Ida B Wells and Oprah Winfrey

This brand new multimedia presentation looks at the lives of two amazing African-American female journalists. Each was born in Mississippi, moved to Tennessee, and built an amazing life in Chicago.

Ida B. Wells is often credited as being the first true investigative reporter. Her exposes on lynching put her life in jeopardy, but helped shape the national debate about civil rights, law, and domestic terrorism. Arguably the most important African-American female suffragist, she for tirelessly to get women the right to vote and then was deeply disappointed when most African-American women still could not participate in the electoral process.

Oprah Winfrey might be the most famous woman in America. She is the wealthiest self-made African-American of all time. Her influential talk show, speeches, specials, and magazines have all had enormous impact on the nation.
