SUMMARY:The Swinging\, Controversial Life Of Frank Sinatra - Part One
DESCRIPTION:  \nFrank Sinatra was one of the most charismatic and controversial American entertainers of all time. \nHe was one of a kind!  \nClick here to read about his amazing record on Civil Rights. \nIn this brand-new multimedia presentation\, I will trace the biography of Sinatra’s improbable life. We will look at his odd childhood as a skinny Italian street kid in working-class Hoboken\, New Jersey. His father was a prizefighter turned saloon keeper; his mother was a hard-drinking suffragette and political power in Hoboken who also made a living by performing abortions. We will look at Sinatra’s bumpy road to stardom. His career had so many ups and downs! Frank Sinatra seemed unstoppable from singing with the Harry James and Tommy Dorsey big bands to being the idol of the Bobby Sox brigades in the early 1940s. But when he avoided serving in World War II and musical tastes began to shift\, his career went into a steep decline that was only rescued by the help of the Mafia and his fantastic performance in the movie “From Here To Eternity.” \n \nThe rest of the Frank Sinatra story is equally fascinating. Swingin’ Sinatra\, the Rat Pack\, JFK\, Marilyn Monroe\,  and an abiding dedication to Israel and civil rights are part of the story. So are Lucky Luciano\, Sam Giancana\, Skinny D’Amato\, Jilly Rizzo and the Mafia. (Click here to read about how Peter Lawford connected Sinatra to JFK!)In this one-of-a-kind presentation filled with video clips\, amazing anecdotes\, and insightful analysis\, we will look at all sides of the one and only Chairman of the Board\, Frank Sinatra. \n

SUMMARY:Diana: Life Of The The People's Princess
DESCRIPTION:Diana: Glamorous And Tragic Life Of a Princess \nLady Diana Spencer was the “People’s Princess” beloved worldwide for her compassion as much as for her glamour. \nSweet\, pretty Lady Diana Spencer was a shy and charming kindergarten teacher when she caught the eye of Prince Charles\, heir to the throne of Great Britain. At first\, to the public\, her story seemed like a fairytale. A pretty young girl had been plucked out of obscurity to marry the dashing Prince. But the truth of Diana’s private life was very different from the public perception. \nIn 1981\, an estimated 750 million people worldwide watched the beautiful 20-year-old Diana Spencer marry her handsome Prince Charles amidst all the pomp and circumstance of the British Empire. But barely more than ten years later\, she was bitterly divorced with two children\, suffering from severe depression and eating disorders\, brought out by the realization that her incredible and diffident husband had been having an affair with a long-time girlfriend\, Camilla Parker-Bowles. \nAfter Princess Diana’s ugly public divorce\, she became an outcast from the British Royal family. Despite that\, she became even more beloved by the British public! She was seen as an affectionate and doting mother\, an icon of fashion style\, and\, most importantly\, a tireless champion for humanitarian causes. Diana met with Mother Teresa to bring attention to the global aid epidemic. She risked her life trying to read war zones of the scourge of land mines. \nWherever she went\, whatever she did\, and whomever she dated\, Diana’s every move was followed by the insatiable British press. They detailed Diana’s every date\, every vacation\, and every outfit. \nWhen Princess Diana died in a horrible car crash\, she was mourned by the world. The outpouring of grief in Britain forever changed the nation’s view of the monarchy. Diana’s unexpected life\, veering between glamour and tragedy\, and her sudden and controversial death make for an unforgettable story. \n  \nRegistration Info\nThis program is offered live and in person at the Northbrook Senior Center. There is a fee to attend. Please get in touch with the organizer to register!
