SUMMARY:1920 - A Turning Point In American History!
DESCRIPTION:1920 was a fascinating year that ushered in an amazing decade!  \n \nWas it a liberal time or conservative? In the same year that women got the right to vote\, Americans lost the right to buy alcohol. \nThe complexity of 1920 open the door. Although Americans tend to think of “The Roaring 20s” as the era of flappers\, bathtub gin\, Al Capone\, a booming stock market\, and a much more liberal sexual atmosphere\, the decade was far more complex. The atmosphere of social liberalism was being counterbalanced by the non-stop election of conservative Republicans\, a major pushback from organized religion\, and signs of a deteriorating economy despite seeming prosperity.  \n1920 saw two seemingly opposite trends converge. On the one hand\, Americans overwhelmingly elected very conservative\, old-fashioned politicians who promised a return to traditional values. But at the same time\, they were beginning to flout conventional norms of behavior. As an example: we outlawed the sale of alcohol\, and almost immediately\, there grew a massive underground culture of drinking\, new criminal organizations to sell booze\, and the glorification of mobsters who opposed the very government\, the voters\, had just elected! \nWe will focus on the specific year of 1920 – taking a deep dive into the culture\, sports\, movies\, economy\, and major news stories of a most fascinating\, transitional year! \nREGISTER: CLICK HERE! \n

SUMMARY:The Civil War In 1864 -65
DESCRIPTION:The Civil War In 1864 -65 marks the culmination of the battle to reunify the land\, crush the terrorists and end the barbaric practice of slavery. Although the fighting ends when the brilliant leadership of Generals Grant\, Sherman\, Sheridan\, and Meade and Admiral Farragut finally destroys the terrorist army threatening the United States Of America\, the end of the Civil War also brings about the murder of Abraham Lincoln. \nThe brutal killing of our greatest President by a  motley group of terrorists dooms the South to almost a century of racial antagonism\, poverty and strife. As we think about the end of the Civil War\, we will also think about what it heralded for the future. \nPlease don’t miss this amazing multimedia presentation! \nALL REGISTRATION IS THROUGH HIGHLAND PARK SENIOR CENTER. I DO NOT HAAVE THE ZOOM LINKS!
