DESCRIPTION:1863 was a turning point in America. Abraham Lincoln had struggled with the question of how to handle the issue of slavery. He was personally opposed to human beings’ enslavement but didn’t think the government had the power to end it. In this powerful multimedia presentation\, we will look at how the battles and trials of 1863 changed America and led Lincoln to declare the Emancipation Proclamation. Among the fascinating topics we will look at will be the Gettysburg address\, the major battles of 1863\, Lincoln’s declaration of the first thanksgiving day\, and how Lincoln’s view on emancipation changed.\nIn 1863\, Abraham Lincoln made the rationale for winning the war\, not just the preservation of the Union but also the destruction and elimination of the barbaric practice of slavery. DESCRIPTION:Most Americans simply do not know very much about the Revolutionary War.   \nAlthough certain images from the Revolutionary War are seared into our memory – Washington Crossing the Delaware and the signing of the Declaration of Independence –  many people would be hard-pressed to name a major battle\, a leading general\, or even how the War For Independence ended.  Recent events in America have caused some to question whether we should even have statues of George Washington on public display. \nTHE REVOLUTIONARY WAR\n In this four-part series on the Revolutionary War\, we will examine why the freest and most prosperous colonials in the world decided to declare independence from a mother country that had protected them. We will look at the roots of the war\, the Declaration of Independence\, the early battles\, including Lexington\, Concord\, and Bunker Hill\, before transitioning into a longer look at the seven years of fighting necessary for America to begin its experiment in participatory democracy. We will also look at the amazing and diverse leaders who guided America. They could not have been more wrong. At the two-day Battle of Shiloh\, there were more American casualties than in the entire Revolutionary War\, the War Of 1812\, and the Mexican – American War – combined. Both sides realized that the War would be long and bloody and that the casualty count would stagger the imagination. \nThe Southern (“Confederate” traitors were helped in 1862 by good military leadership but their cause was hurt by inept political leadership fighting for the right to hold human beings as forced laborers  sexual slaves under the guise of “State’s Rights.”  \nThe United States Of America was hurt by the uneven military leadership and helped enormously by political leadership that evolved and grew in purpose and resolve. \nIn this week’s presentation\, we will trace the dual paths of the USA and the traitors and note the emergence of General Grant. \n

The Declaration Of Independence stated\, “We hold these truths to be self-evident\, that all men are created equal…” The Civil War tested whether or not we really meant it. In 1860 and 1861 the Civil War began. \nThis exciting four-week series will trace the history of the Civil War. In 1860\, our nation faced one of the most crucial elections in our history.  Four great candidates stood for office.  The only real issue was slavery.  Today we see the practice of kidnapping human beings and holding them against their will as abhorrent.  In 1860\, the economy and social structure of an entire region of the United States was built on the premise that kidnapping and bondage were acceptable means of making money.  Our four-week series begins with an in-depth look at the Lincoln Douglas debates of 1858\, the election of 1860\, and the secession of the Confederate States. \nIn 1861 the United States Civil War began in earnest.  We saw American citizens in revolt against the Constitution while holding millions of people against their will.  We saw personal tragedies unfold as the tender-hearted Abraham Lincoln saw the body of the first American patriot killed by the rebels brought back to Washington DC.  The body was that of Elmer Ellsworth.  He was a close friend of Lincoln’s. The death of Elmer Ellsworth represents the personal nature of this deadly fight. \nPeople happily brought picnic baskets to watch the First Battle Of Bull Run unfold.  By the end of the battle\, America knew was not glamorous and victory would be difficult. DESCRIPTION:The election of 1960 was one of the most dramatic elections in American history. Until the halted recount in the election of 2000\, it was the closest  Presidential election in our lifetimes.  This riveting multimedia presentation features amazing anecdotes\, entry insights\, and numerous fascinating film clips to help put this most momentous campaign into perspective. \nRichard M. Nixon was coming off of eight years serving as vice president to Dwight D. Eisenhower\, one of the most popular Republican presidents of all time. Nixon had experience in domestic and foreign policy and was a veteran of many tough campaigns. Still very young\, he offered a new face for the Republican Party’s future. He became the first sitting vice president to earn his party’s nomination since John C Breckenridge exactly 100 years earlier. \n  \nJohn F. Kennedy was only a few years younger than Richard Nixon\, whom he considered something of a friend. Kennedy was seen as a lightweight in the Senate\, according to the Democrat’s Majority Leader\, Lyndon Johnson. JFK was criticized for proposing no major legislation during his Senate tenure. \n Significantly\, John Kennedy often missed long stretches of time in the Senate due to surgeries and hospitalizations. However\, the Massachusetts senator was a war hero\, handsome\, charismatic\, and a best-selling author. He had to defeat several older and much better-known Democrats (including Adlai Stevenson\, Lyndon Johnson\, and Hubert Humphrey to earn the nomination. \nAnd then came the campaign for president! Nixon’s national reputation vs. Kennedy’s cool and charisma. With polls showing just a slight Nixon lead throughout the summer\, the two men agreed to something that had never happened before: a series of presidential debates. Those debates turned the course of the election and changed politics. They demonstrated the importance of television in future campaigns. Throw into the mix the rest of Martin Luther King Jr.\, Nixon’s phlebitis\, Kennedy’s mafia connections\, mystery votes in Illinois\, and odd campaign choices by Nixon\, and you have the makings of a fascinating campaign! \n  \n

DESCRIPTION: Who Killed JFK?\n I’ll Tell You! \n \nThe murder of John F. Kennedy on November 22\, 1963\, shocked the nation. A suspect was quickly arrested and subsequently murdered. President Lyndon Johnson appointed a blue ribbon committee – the Warren Commission – to answer the question: who killed JFK? \nTheir conclusion was that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin. Immediately\, the public was skeptical. Stephen King described Oswald as “a semi-educated hillbilly with delusions of grandeur.” How could such an insignificant loser pull off such a dastardly crime? And why did Jack Ruby\, accused of being a Mob member\, kill Oswald? \nWe have been through with whispered knowledge of conspiracies and confessions and coverups. And so the public has asked for an explanation of the “magic bullet.” \nAnd the contradictory witness statements. \nAnd Oswald’s shadowy past. \nAnd all of the “secret files.” \nAnd all of the conspiracy theories. \nAnd all of the “mysterious deaths” associated with the assassination? \nBooks and articles\, movies and documentaries have raised in innumerable questions about who killed JFK. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis\nSo who killed JFK? I will attempt to answer as many of these questions as possible. First I will attempt to separate historical fact from theory & speculation. Second\, I will show what the historical record actually indicates happened. We have access to much more information today then the Warren Commission had in 1963/4 or the House of Representatives had in 1977. Third\, we will examine what modern computer forensics can tell us about the crime. For instance\, the Warren Commission had access to the “Zapruder Film.”  Today\, we can use computers to enhance and analyze the film. We can use modern technology to analyze the path of each of the bullets that were fired. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis \nAnd we can use computers to isolate the mysterious sounds captured by a Dallas motorcycle patrolman.  In 1977\, the House of Representatives believed that the recording showed four shots fired in Dealy Plaza.  The National Academy of Science\, among many other groups\, have taken the same sound recordings and used state-of-the-art technology to analyze them. What do we know now? \nYou may not agree with my conclusions\, but you will definitely learn a lot and come away with a new perspective about the historical record of who killed JFK. \nBONUS! SUMMARY:Who Killed JFK – Historian Presents a Modern Analysis
DESCRIPTION: Who Killed JFK?\n I’ll Tell You! \n \nThe murder of John F. Kennedy on November 22\, 1963\, shocked the nation. A suspect was quickly arrested and subsequently murdered. President Lyndon Johnson appointed a blue ribbon committee – the Warren Commission – to answer the question: who killed JFK? \nTheir conclusion was that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin. Immediately\, the public was skeptical. Stephen King described Oswald as “a semi-educated hillbilly with delusions of grandeur.” How could such an insignificant loser pull off such a dastardly crime? And why did Jack Ruby\, accused of being a Mob member\, kill Oswald? \nWe have been through with whispered knowledge of conspiracies and confessions and coverups. And so the public has asked for an explanation of the “magic bullet.” \nAnd the contradictory witness statements. \nAnd Oswald’s shadowy past. \nAnd all of the “secret files.” \nAnd all of the conspiracy theories. \nAnd all of the “mysterious deaths” associated with the assassination? \nBooks and articles\, movies and documentaries have raised in innumerable questions about who killed JFK. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis\nSo who killed JFK? I will attempt to answer as many of these questions as possible. First I will attempt to separate historical fact from theory & speculation. Second\, I will show what the historical record actually indicates happened. We have access to much more information today then the Warren Commission had in 1963/4 or the House of Representatives had in 1977. Third\, we will examine what modern computer forensics can tell us about the crime. For instance\, the Warren Commission had access to the “Zapruder Film.”  Today\, we can use computers to enhance and analyze the film. We can use modern technology to analyze the path of each of the bullets that were fired. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis \nAnd we can use computers to isolate the mysterious sounds captured by a Dallas motorcycle patrolman.  In 1977\, the House of Representatives believed that the recording showed four shots fired in Dealy Plaza.  The National Academy of Science\, among many other groups\, have taken the same sound recordings and used state-of-the-art technology to analyze them. What do we know now? \nYou may not agree with my conclusions\, but you will definitely learn a lot and come away with a new perspective about the historical record of who killed JFK. \nBONUS!
