DESCRIPTION:1968 Democratic Convention\n \n“The Whole World Is Watching!  The Whole World Is Watching!  \nSo went the chant from thousands of protesters caught in a pitched battle with the police on the streets of Chicago is the Democratic Party sought to nominate a candidate for president. The Democratic convention riots of 1967 were turning point in history of politics and in the history of Chicago. Never before had live television cameras cameras captured what was later termed a “police riot” live on television.  While the battle of Chicago raged wildly on Michigan Avenue\, the tension erupted in violence and anger in the convention hall itself. \nAs the nation watched  in disbelief\, convention delegates and network reporters were beaten\, delegate credentials were forged in an effort to pack the galleries with Chicago city employees\, and the mayor of the city\, Richard J Daley\, screamed an obscenity at a Jewish United States senator on live television. \nIn this exciting multimedia presentation\, we will explore the roots of the events that culminated in the riots of 1968. From growing public frustration to the stalemate in Vietnam in the wake of the Tet Offensive to the insurgent campaign of Sen. Eugene McCarthy\, politics in America were thrown into turmoil. And just as the country seemed more and more to be spinning out of control\, we were hit with the shock of the public assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King and Sen. Robert F.  Kennedy. DESCRIPTION:1920 was a fascinating year that ushered in an amazing decade!  \nAlthough Americans tend to think of “The Roaring 20s” as the era of flappers\, bathtub gin\, Al Capone\, a booming stock market\, and a much more liberal sexual atmosphere\, the decade was far more complex. The atmosphere of social liberalism was being counterbalanced by the non-stop election of conservative Republicans\, a major pushback from organized religion\, and signs of a deteriorating economy despite seeming prosperity.  \n1920 saw two seemingly opposite trends converge – Americans elected very conservative\, old-fashioned politicians at the same time they were beginning to flout conventional norms of behavior. They could not have been more wrong. At the two-day Battle of Shiloh\, there were more American casualties than in the entire Revolutionary War\, the War Of 1812\, and the Mexican – American War – combined. Both sides realized that the War would be long and bloody and that the casualty count would stagger the imagination. \nThe Southern (“Confederate” traitors were helped in 1862 by good military leadership but their cause was hurt by inept political leadership fighting for the right to hold human beings as forced laborers  sexual slaves under the guise of “State’s Rights.”  \nThe United States Of America was hurt by the uneven military leadership and helped enormously by political leadership that evolved and grew in purpose and resolve. \nIn this week’s presentation\, we will trace the dual paths of the USA and the traitors and note the emergence of General Grant. \n

The Declaration Of Independence stated “We hold these truths to be self evident\, that all men are created equal…” The Civil War tested whether or not we really meant it. In 1860 and 1861 the Civil War began. \nThis exciting four week series will trace the history of the Civil War. In 1860\, our nation faced one of the most crucial elections in our history.  Four great candidates stood for office.  The only real issue was slavery.  Today we see the practice of kidnapping human beings and holding them against their will as abhorrent.  In 1860\, the economy and social structure of an entire region of the United States was built on the premise that kidnapping and bondage were acceptable means of making money.  Our four week series begins with an in depth look at the Lincoln Douglas debates of 1858\, the election of 1860\, and the secession of  the Confederate States. \nIn 1861 the Civil War really began.  We saw American citizens in revolt against the Constitution while holding millions of people against their will.  We saw personal tragedies unfold as the tender hearted Abraham Lincoln saw the body of the first American patriot killed by the rebels brought back to Washington DC.  The body was that of Elmer Ellsworth.  He was a close friend of Lincoln’s. The death of Elmer Ellsworth represents the personal nature of this deadly fight. \nPeople happily brought picnic baskets to watch the First Battle Of Bull Run unfold.  By the end of the battle\, America knew was was not glamorous and victory would be difficult. And why did Jack Ruby\, accused of being a Mob member\, kill Oswald? \nWe have been through with whispered knowledge of conspiracies and confessions and coverups. We can use modern technology to analyze the path of each of the bullets that were fired. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis \nAnd we can use computers to isolate the mysterious sounds captured by a Dallas motorcycle patrolman.  In 1977\, the House of Representatives believed that the recording showed four shots fired in Dealy Plaza.  The National Academy of Science\, among many other groups\, have taken the same sound recordings and used state-of-the-art technology to analyze them. SUMMARY:Who Killed JFK – Historian Presents a Modern Analysis
DESCRIPTION: Who Killed JFK?\n I’ll Tell You! \n \nThe murder of John F. Kennedy on November 22\, 1963\, shocked the nation. A suspect was quickly arrested and subsequently murdered. President Lyndon Johnson appointed a blue ribbon committee – the Warren Commission – to answer the question: who killed JFK? \nTheir conclusion was that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin. Immediately\, the public was skeptical. Stephen King described Oswald as “a semi-educated hillbilly with delusions of grandeur.” How could such an insignificant loser pull off such a dastardly crime? And why did Jack Ruby\, accused of being a Mob member\, kill Oswald? \nWe have been through with whispered knowledge of conspiracies and confessions and coverups. And so the public has asked for an explanation of the “magic bullet.” \nAnd the contradictory witness statements. \nAnd Oswald’s shadowy past. \nAnd all of the “secret files.” \nAnd all of the conspiracy theories. \nAnd all of the “mysterious deaths” associated with the assassination? \nBooks and articles\, movies and documentaries have raised in innumerable questions about who killed JFK. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis\nSo who killed JFK? I will attempt to answer as many of these questions as possible. First I will attempt to separate historical fact from theory & speculation. Second\, I will show what the historical record actually indicates happened. We have access to much more information today then the Warren Commission had in 1963/4 or the House of Representatives had in 1977. Third\, we will examine what modern computer forensics can tell us about the crime. For instance\, the Warren Commission had access to the “Zapruder Film.”  Today\, we can use computers to enhance and analyze the film. We can use modern technology to analyze the path of each of the bullets that were fired. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis \nAnd we can use computers to isolate the mysterious sounds captured by a Dallas motorcycle patrolman.  In 1977\, the House of Representatives believed that the recording showed four shots fired in Dealy Plaza.  The National Academy of Science\, among many other groups\, have taken the same sound recordings and used state-of-the-art technology to analyze them. What do we know now? \nYou may not agree with my conclusions\, but you will definitely learn a lot and come away with a new perspective about the historical record of who killed JFK. \nBONUS! SUMMARY:1920 - History In Perspective
DESCRIPTION:1920 was a fascinating year that ushered in an amazing decade!  \nAlthough Americans tend to think of “The Roaring 20s” as the era of flappers\, bathtub gin\, Al Capone\, a booming stock market\, and a much more liberal sexual atmosphere\, the decade was far more complex. The atmosphere of social liberalism was being counterbalanced by the non-stop election of conservative Republicans\, a major pushback from organized religion\, and signs of a deteriorating economy despite seeming prosperity.  \n1920 saw two seemingly opposite trends converge – Americans elected very conservative\, old-fashioned politicians at the same time they were beginning to flout conventional norms of behavior. As an example: we outlawed the sale of alcohol and almost  immediately there grew a culture of drinking\, new criminal organizations to sell booze and the glorification of those who opposed the very government they had just elected! \nWe will focus in on the specific year of 1920 – taking a deep dive into the culture\, sports\, movies\, economy and major news stories of a most fascinating\, transitional year!
