SUMMARY:Diana: Life And Death Of The People's Princess
DESCRIPTION:Diana: Glamorous And Tragic Life And Death Of a Princess\n She was the “People’s Princess” beloved for her compassion as much as for her glamour. \nPretty Diana Spencer was a shy and charming assistant kindergarten teacher when she caught the eye of Prince Charles\, heir to the throne of Great Britain. At first\, to the public\, her story seemed like a fairytale. Pretty young girl plucked out of obscurity to marry the Prince. But the truth of her life was very different from the public perception.   \nOn a beautiful day In 1981\, more than 750 million people alll around the world watched the 20-year-old Diana marry her charming  Prince amidst all the pomp and circumstance of the British Empire. \nBut barely more than 10 years later Princess Diana was a divorced woman with two children\, suffering from depression\, emotional problems and eating disorders\, brought out on by the realization that her husband had been having an affair with a long time girlfriend. \nAfter her divorce\, she became an outcast from the British Royal family but even more beloved by the British public. She was seen as an affectionate and doting mother\, an icon of fashion style\, and most importantly as a tireless champion for humanitarian causes. She met with mother Theresa in an effort to bring attention to the global aid epidemic. She risked her life to try and read war zones of the scourge of land mines. All the while\, her every move was followed by the rabid British press which detailed her every date\, every vacation\, and every outfit. When she died in a horrible car crash she was mourned by the world. Diana’s unexpected life\, veering between glamour and tragedy and her sudden and controversial death make for an unforgettable story. \n  \nPLEASE NOTE: Registration through CLC is required to attend! The nice people at the college will be glad to help you!

SUMMARY:The Revolutionary War
DESCRIPTION:Most Americans simply do not know very much about the Revolutionary War.   \nAlthough certain images from the Revolutionary War are seared into our memory – Washington Crossing the Delaware  and the signing of the Declaration of Independence –  many people would be hard-pressed to name a major battle\, a leading general or even how the War For Independence ended.  Recent events in America have caused some to question whether we should even have statues of George Washington on public display. \nTHE REVOLUTIONARY WAR \n In this four-part series on the Revolutionary War we will examine why the freest and most prosperous colonials in the world decided to declare independence from a mother country that had protected them. We will look at the roots of the war\, the Declaration of Independence\, the early battles including Lexington\, Concord\, and Bunker Hill before transitioning into a longer look at the seven years of fighting necessary for America to begin its experiment in participatory democracy. We will also look at the amazing and diverse leaders who guided America. Benjamin Franklin\,James Monroe\, John Adams\, Paul Revere\, George Washington\, Thomas Jefferson\, and Alexander Hamilton will be some of the people whom we will meet. I encourage you to learn more about how America came to be!
