SUMMARY:Best Movies About Politics
DESCRIPTION:Politics and the movies are a match made in heaven! Movies need compelling characters\, suspenseful plots\, unexpected twists\, and a  great conclusion. Politics provides all the above and then some! In this remarkable new presentation\, Best Movies About Politics\, I’ll present my admittedly idiosyncratic list of the best films ever made about American politics. Some are dramas\, and some are comedies. Some are old classics\, and some are very modern. Some are well-known\, critically acclaimed Hollywood films\, and others are amazing but obscure! \nBest Movies About Politics\nThis fun\, fascinating\, and fast-moving presentation is one of my favorites\, combining my love of great cinema with a lifelong fascination with elections. And where else will you find a list that plausibly contains Henry Fonda\, Eddie Murphy\, Kirk Douglas\, George Clooney\, and Jimmy Stewart? From directors Frank Capra and Preston Sturges to Rob Reiner and screenwriters Aaron Sorkin to Rod Serling\, some of the most incredible talent in movie history have tackled the subject of elections in films that are entertaining\, thought-provoking\, and often unforgettable. We will look at clips from some of them and consider others! \nOf course\, we will leave time for discussion and your choices. Let’s see what everyone else chooses as the best movies about politics! \nBONUS! \nClick here to read about one of the films – I’ll bet this is a new one for you! \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:The History Of Political Satire
DESCRIPTION:The History of Political Satire – From Mark Twin To Stephen Colbert \n“Politicians and diapers should both be changed regularly and for the same reason\,” \nor so said America’s first great political satirist\, Mark Twain.  Although the history of political satire in America begins with Twain\, we will trace its rambunctious history in this wonderful multimedia presentation \nBeginning with Mark Twain\, this funny and thought-provoking multimedia presentation will trace the rise of political satire by looking at some of its greatest practitioners\, including Will Rogers\, Mort Sahl\, Dennis Miller\, and Stephen Colbert. \nAlthough Mark Twain and Will  Rogers began the art form of political satire as public entertainment\, the history of political satire shows that it has moved from a novelty to a staple of show business. \nWith the rise of television in the 1950s\, political satire became a vastly amusing and important part of the discussion about government and elections.  Mort Sahl’s controversial monologues eventually led to the Smothers Brothers\, Saturday Night Live\, and The Daily Show. \nWith the proliferation of cable TV and late-night talk/comedy shows\, you can barely escape political comedy if you try! \nJoin us for many insights\, some fantastic history\, and hilarious film clips as we trace the history of political satire in the USA! \nCOST \nI ask for a voluntary donation of $5.00. If you cannot afford it or feel my programs are not worth $5.00\, email me\, and I will waive your fee. SUMMARY:The History Of NBC
DESCRIPTION:The history of NBC is perhaps the most storied and essential in broadcasting history. Its founder\, the illustrious David Sarnoff\, was the genius who turned a small local radio station into a gigantic\, influential multimedia empire\, always had dreams of greatness\, and his tremendous vision brought his network along with him. His contributions to American popular culture cannot be overstated! \nAlthough CBS had the early advantage in news broadcasting\, NBC (an offshoot of RCA) eventually caught up with Huntley and Brinkley. It took a while for NBC to compete with CBS in radio\, but stars like Bob Hope made it possible. The history of NBC in the television years is especially intriguing. The National Broadcasting CompanyThe National Broadcasting Company probably debuted color TV and eventually became a perennial rating champion. \n \nAlong the way\, NBC pioneered morning TV with ” The Today Show\,” and late-night became and NBC’s staple with “The Tonight Show” with multitalented host Steve Allen and later the iconic Johnny Carson. And at a time when no one thought that late-night weekend programming would work\, NBC revolutionized television with ”Saturday Night Live.” \nIn a more modern era\, NBC invented “Must See TV” with a powerhouse lineup that included Fiends\, Seinfeld\, ER\, Cheers and Nite Court. This kaleidoscopic multimedia presentation will have wonderful memories and great surprises around every corner! \n
