SUMMARY:Ulysses S. Grant - Warrior And President
DESCRIPTION:After three years of tremendous bloodshed\, Union losses\, and a seemingly endless stalemate\, President Lincoln appointed Ulysses S. Grant to head the Union Army. The War was over less than a year later. Grant saved the Union\, crushed the terrorists\, and helped free millions of people who were the children\, grandchildren\, and great-grandchildren of kidnapping victims from the cruel system that exploited them physically and sexually. His leadership and vision destroyed a racist rebellion. By devising a brilliant strategy alongside General Sherman\, winning the complete support and unswerving loyalty of President Lincoln\, and bravely leading a courageous army\, Grant is rightfully ranked alongside Washington and Patton as one of our greatest commanding officers. In the 1876 election\, the country turned to him again. As  President\, Ulysses S. Grant took necessary steps to rebuild the country\, help the exploited and homeless victims of the terrorists\, and tried to advance America’s technological growth. Alas\, his administration was mired in scandal. Yet\, in recent years\, historians have begun to reevaluate his presidency. His historical reputation has improved. This fascinating multimedia presentation examines his challenging private life\, happy marriage\, and his invaluable contributions to the USA as a General and as a President. \n

SUMMARY:Ike – A Biography of the Private Life Of A Great American (Part 1)
DESCRIPTION:Ike –  A Biography of the Private Life Of A Great American\nVery few Americans have had an impact on the world that equals that of Dwight David Eisenhower. \nHe did a brilliant job as commander of Allied forces in World War II\, despite having minimal combat experience. Click here to read a fascinating\, little-known story about how General Eisenhower was prepared to take full responsibility if the D-Day invasion had failed. \nAfter serving ably as President of Columbia University and Supreme Commander of NATO\, Dwight Eisenhower did a superb job as President of the United States of America\, despite having no prior experience in politics. Eisenhower was widely admired and enormously respected by a public that really did not know him very well. Few Americans could tell you much about Ike’s parents\, his brothers\, his religious faith\, or his relationships with his wife and children. Did you know that Dwight Eisenhower was a superb athlete who once tackled Jim Thorpe? Or that he was quietly one of the most religious presidents in the history of the USA? \nThis multimedia presentation will serve as a fascinating biography illuminating the private life of one of the most admired Americans of all time. \nCOST\nThe program is available for a minimum contribution of $5.00\, which helps support my work and allows me to continue offering engaging content. \nPAYMENT OPTIONS \nCash/Check\nPayable to: Barry Bradford\nMail to:\nBarry Bradford\nP.O. SUMMARY:Over There: America In World War I
DESCRIPTION:It was “The War To End All Wars” and “The War To Make The World Safe For Democracy.” When Woodrow Wilson reversed the policy of American non-involvement in foreign wars\, he broke a tradition that had begun with George Washington. The role of America in World War I is still vitally important as our nation makes strategic decisions on both peace and war. \nThe effects of World War I are both obvious (the rise of the Nazi government in Germany) and less immediately apparent. As an example\, as a result of the involvement of America In World War I\, the groundwork was laid for the eventual establishment of Israel. \nOver There: America In World War I\nThis fast-moving and fascinating multimedia presentation will trace the roots of American involvement in “The Great War\,” including how it reshaped the major political parties. \nWe will look at the military participation of American troops fighting for the first time on European soil and then look at the unexpected impact of the peace process President Wilson designed. \nYou will be amazed at how it laid the groundwork for the rise of Hitler\, the start of World War II\, and even the War in Vietnam! \n

SUMMARY:America's Purpose Statement: The Declaration Of Independence
DESCRIPTION:The most important sentence ever written by an American – a sentence that has inspired people in every part of the world – is found in America’s purpose statement! Click here to read more. The legacy of Washington\, Hancock\, Franklin\, Jefferson\, Adams\, Hamilton\, and Paul Revere still challenges us. \n \nOn a stifling July Thursday in 1776\, our Founding Fathers agreed to a completely unique document in the world’s history. Many revolutions had occurred over the centuries\, but never had one begun with a philosophical purpose statement. \nAlthough the Declaration of Independence has no legal power\, it has become the guiding beacon for what America strives to become. As the events of 2020 showed\, we as a nation are a world leader in human rights\, yet America is still a work in progress. \n \nWhy study the Declaration of Independence? It is the ultimate statement of what we hope to become. Freedom movements in the USA and worldwide have quoted it. \nYet many Americans know surprisingly little about it. In this exciting and thought-provoking multimedia presentation\, I will present the thrilling themes\, difficult negotiations\, contradictory\, complex\, charismatic personalities\, and exciting events leading to the most critical moment in American history. \n

SUMMARY:World War I – 1914 to 1917 - Before The USA Landed "Over There"
DESCRIPTION:World War I – 1914 to 1917\n“I can predict with absolute certainty that within another generation there will be another world war if the nations of the world do not concert the method by which to prevent it.” Woodrow Wilson\, after the end of World War I\nThe Forgotten War?\n \n  \n2014 – 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of World War I. Somehow\, it seems longer ago than that. The sheer enormity of World War II eclipsed the “Great War.” Some historians have argued that\, in a sense\, World War II should not be seen as a separate war. It should merely be seen as an extension of World War I. This fast-paced multimedia presentation will trace the roots of World War I\, looking at the personalities and history behind the calamitous decision to go to war. \nWe will pay special attention to how the United States approached the growing conflict in Europe and how our policy shifted from isolationism to interventionism. The next two weeks will bring additional classes in which we will examine President Wilson and the United States’ involvement in combat. \n

SUMMARY:1975: Life in America 50 Years Ago
DESCRIPTION:Revisit 1975\, a year when America found itself at a crossroads. In the aftermath of Watergate\, the country was grappling with questions of trust and leadership\, while Vietnam veterans returned home to a divided nation. At the same time\, disco fever was taking over\, with songs like Gloria Gaynor’s Never Can Say Goodbye and KC and the Sunshine Band lighting up dance floors across the country. Two of the Three Stooges (Larry and Moe) died in the same year that Tiger Woods and Kate Winslet were born. \nIn the world of American popular culture\, 1975 saw the release of groundbreaking films like Jaws\, which became the first summer blockbuster\, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest\, a critical and commercial success. \nSaturday Night Live debuted on television\, changing comedy forever\, while Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run captured the hopes and frustrations of a generation. Consumer prices reflected the energy crisis\, with gas costing just 57 cents a gallon but often hard to come by due to shortages. \nThis dynamic program brings 1975 to life with a mix of visuals\, music\, and engaging stories that showcase the era’s highs and lows. SUMMARY:Sherman's March To The Sea - Saving America By Destroying A Rebellion (PM)
DESCRIPTION:Sherman’s March To The Sea – Saving America By Destroying A Rebellion\n No military action in the bloody Civil War was probably more controversial than Sherman’s March To The Sea. After the War\, traitors who were inclined to respect Grant and revere Lincoln were unreconstructed in their hatred of William T. Sherman. Why? SUMMARY:Sherman's March To The Sea - Saving America By Destroying A Rebellion (AM)
DESCRIPTION:Sherman’s March To The Sea – Saving America By Destroying A Rebellion\n No military action in the bloody Civil War was probably more controversial than Sherman’s March To The Sea. SUMMARY:Ernie Pyle - The Voice Of G.I. Joe
DESCRIPTION:Free Program – Live\, In Person\, And Open To The Public! \nErnie Pyle was one of the greatest journalists in American history. After writing one of the most popular and widely published newspaper columns in the USA\, he became the voice of the average infantry soldier during World War II. In this role\, Ernie Pyle became legendary. \nA number of brilliant journalists covered the Second World War. Edward R. Murrow broadcast brilliantly from the rooftops of London\, William L. Shirer personally witnessed the entry of Hitler into Austria\, and Walter Cronkite tirelessly covered the War for the United Press. Each filed memorable reports that helped Americans better understand the War. \nMeanwhile\, Ernie Pyle carved out an unforgettable niche for himself. Instead of covering the “big picture” of the War\, Pyle traveled alongside the infantry. He became what we today would call an embedded journalist. Marching alongside the average G.I. Joe – a term he helped popularize – Ernie Pyle reported the “little picture.” He recorded the daily gripes and fears and small moments of humor encountered by the foot soldiers marching through Italy and then Germany. Millions of Americans read his column every day. His prose was crisp observant caring\, and sardonic. \nWhen the War ended in Europe\, Ernie Pyle returned home to New Mexico. Then\, reluctantly\, Pyle joined the forces preparing to invade Japan. He was exhausted\, his personal life was in shambles\, and he had a fearful premonition that he would die there. \nOn Okinawa\, Ernie Pyle was killed by a sniper. The grief felt by his millions of readers and the entire Army was all but immeasurable. Tributes flowed from the President\, American military leaders\, and journalists around the world. \nPerhaps the simple plaque erected by the soldiers who had marched alongside him would have been his favorite memorial. It read: \n  \nAt this spot \nThe 77th Infantry Division  \nLost a buddy. \nERNIE PYLE. \n18 April 1945 \nTo this day\, Ernie Pyle’s unique life\, unforgettable writing\, and tragic death place him in the pantheon of freat correspondents. The School Of Journalism at Indiana University is named for Ernie Pyle\, and a number of books and a movie have helped keep his memory alive. Even Snoopy would regularly hoist a can of K-Rations on the anniversary of Ernie Pyle’s death on the island of Okinawa. \nPlease join me for a unique and powerful multimedia presentation! \n

SUMMARY:The Life Of FDR - A Multimedia Presentation
DESCRIPTION:The Life Of FDR\n \nUnderstanding the life of FDR is like taking a sonogram of the USA.  Franklin Roosevelt transformed the United States with optimism\, vigor\, vision\, and skill.  The effects are still being felt and still being debated today.  And he did it all from a wheelchair. \nOptimism was one of FDR’s greatest strengths and most incredible gifts.  He inspired others to be positive\, even during the darkest days of the Second World War and during the depths of the Great Depression. FDR was the first President since Lincoln to seek out the advice of African American advisors routinely. He was the first President to appoint a woman to the cabinet. Although FDR was unable to end the misery of the Great Depression\, his policies definitely helped relieve the suffering of many people.  Just as important\, he filled them with optimism. \nWhen the Second World War loomed\, he had the vision to appoint George C. Marshall to head our armed forces – and then worked tirelessly to make sure Marshall had everything he needed to secure victory in Africa\, Europe\, and Asia. \nWoody Guthrie wrote a song called “Dear Mrs. Roosevelt\,” which contained the lines: \n“I voted for him lots of times \nAnd I’d vote for him again!” \nThe life of FDR is not without blemish. He was unfaithful to his wife and capable of being duplicitous.  His treatment of Japanese Americans is very controversial.  So is his reaction to the Holocaust.  All of his complexities and accomplishments will come to life in this non-partisan multimedia presentation. We will explore his family history\, his marriage\, his faith and all the forces that shaped the mind of one of the great Americans. \n

SUMMARY:Civil War Stories - Reflections On Amercia's Deadliest War
DESCRIPTION:1860 & 1861 The Civil War At 150\nA Nation Divided – 1860 1861 The Civil War \nThe Declaration Of Independence boldly stated “We hold these truths to be self evident\, that all men are created equal…” The Civil War tested whether or not we really meant it. In 1860\, our nation faced one of the most crucial elections in our history.  Four great candidates stood for office.  The only real issue was slavery. \nToday\, we see the practice of kidnapping human beings and holding them against their will as abhorrent.  In 1860\, the economy and social structure of an entire region of the United States were built on the premise that kidnapping and bondage were acceptable means of making money.  Our four-week series begins with an in-depth look at the Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1858\, the election of 1860\, and the secession of the Confederate States. In 1861\, the Civil War really began.  We saw American citizens in revolt against the Constitution while holding millions of people against their will.  We saw personal tragedies unfold as the tender-hearted Abraham Lincoln saw the body of the first American patriot killed by the rebels brought back to Washington\, DC.  It was Elmer Ellsworth.  He was a close friend of Lincoln’s. The death of Elmer Ellsworth represents the personal nature of this deadly fight. People happily brought picnic baskets to watch the First Battle Of Bull Run unfold.  By the end of the battle\, America knew war was not glamorous and victory would be difficult. We will explore how\, in 1861\, the Civil War began a great test of America’s moral purpose\, military strength\, and future direction. Today the battlefields of the Civil War are quiet. \nThe Battlefield at Bull Run \nWe will see how they were the sites of the greatest struggle in American history.

SUMMARY:The Best Losing Presidential Candidates
DESCRIPTION:The Best Losing Presidential Candidates\nWhat do Adlai Stevenson\, George McGovern\, Daniel Webster\, and Wendell Willkie have in common? \nEach ran for President and lost. In some cases\, more than once! \nAnd each was an outstanding man who might well have made a great President. \nIn this unique multimedia presentation\, I will share my list of the ten best men to run for President and lose.  I’ll offer fascinating glimpses into the men\, the times\, and the campaigns. \nWe will explore why each man failed in his bid and speculate on the different directions our country might have taken had the election been decided differently.  For instance\, how would America have responded on the morning of 9-11 if Al Gore had been President? Or if Wendell Willkie had been President on Pearl Harbor Day?  It’s fun to think about and debate! \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Edward R. Murrow: The Legend\, The Man\, The Impact
DESCRIPTION:Edward R. Murrow \nMurrow at CBS \nWith a demagogue attacking anyone who criticized him\, newsman Edward R. Murrow bravely replied: \n“The actions of the junior Senator from Wisconsin have caused alarm and dismay amongst our allies abroad and given considerable comfort to our enemies. And whose fault is that? Not really his. He didn’t create this situation of fear; he merely exploited it — and rather successfully. Cassius was right. “The fault\, dear Brutus\, is not in our stars\, but in ourselves.” \nGood night\, and good luck.” \nFrom his riveting broadcasts from the rooftops of London during the Blitz to his unforgettable account of entering the concentration camps to his heroic challenge to Sen. Joseph McCarthy\, Edward R Murrow has long represented excellence in electronic journalism. \nMurrow’s life story is unpredictable and unique\, and his career was harrowing\, inspiring\, and deeply influential.
