SUMMARY:Who Killed JFK – Historian Presents a Modern Analysis
DESCRIPTION: Who Killed JFK?\n I’ll Tell You! \n \nThe murder of John F. Kennedy on November 22\, 1963\, shocked the nation. A suspect was quickly arrested and subsequently murdered. President Lyndon Johnson appointed a blue ribbon committee – the Warren Commission – to answer the question: who killed JFK? \nTheir conclusion was that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin. Immediately\, the public was skeptical. Stephen King described Oswald as “a semi-educated hillbilly with delusions of grandeur.” How could such an insignificant loser pull off such a dastardly crime? And why did Jack Ruby\, accused of being a Mob member\, kill Oswald? \nWe have been through with whispered knowledge of conspiracies and confessions and coverups. And so the public has asked for an explanation of the “magic bullet.” \nAnd the contradictory witness statements. \nAnd Oswald’s shadowy past. \nAnd all of the “secret files.” \nAnd all of the conspiracy theories. \nAnd all of the “mysterious deaths” associated with the assassination? \nBooks and articles\, movies and documentaries have raised in innumerable questions about who killed JFK. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis\nSo who killed JFK? I will attempt to answer as many of these questions as possible. First I will attempt to separate historical fact from theory & speculation. Second\, I will show what the historical record actually indicates happened. We have access to much more information today then the Warren Commission had in 1963/4 or the House of Representatives had in 1977. Third\, we will examine what modern computer forensics can tell us about the crime. For instance\, the Warren Commission had access to the “Zapruder Film.”  Today\, we can use computers to enhance and analyze the film. We can use modern technology to analyze the path of each of the bullets that were fired. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis \nAnd we can use computers to isolate the mysterious sounds captured by a Dallas motorcycle patrolman.  In 1977\, the House of Representatives believed that the recording showed four shots fired in Dealy Plaza.  The National Academy of Science\, among many other groups\, have taken the same sound recordings and used state-of-the-art technology to analyze them. What do we know now? \nYou may not agree with my conclusions\, but you will definitely learn a lot and come away with a new perspective about the historical record of who killed JFK. \nBONUS! Click Here to read how one of JFK’s Secret Service agents saved the life of Harry Truman – TWICE!

SUMMARY:The Mafia And The Building Of Las Vegas
DESCRIPTION:Fabulous Las Vegas has gone through several fascinating eras! It was a desert town that grew when the railroads came through. To accommodate the railroad workers\, a wide open culture of brothels\, saloons and gambling developed in the dusty desert outpost. \nIn the 1940s\, Bugsy Siegel convinced the Mafia leaders of New York City that the obscure Nevada city would be the perfect spot to build a fabulous a resort and casino that would serve two important purposes for La Casa Nostra – it would make huge amounts of money and it would serve as a clearinghouse to launder money made in illegal activities.  The fantastic Flamingo \n \nhotel was the result. It opened the door to the transformation of Las Vegas and shifting alliances\, strategies and leadership in the Mob. \nWe will explore the colorful personalities (including the Frank Sinatra and his cronies\, the  Rat Pack) \, strategic alliances and unexpected twists and turns that allowed the Mob to make Las Vegas a mecca for entertainment \n \ngambling and adult fun – until the law caught up with them.

SUMMARY:Wallis Simpson (American Royalty Series)
DESCRIPTION:The King of England abdicated his throne in order to be with “the woman I love.” Some people see it as the most romantic gestures in history. Others see his marriage to a twice divorceed\, promiscuous woman from Baltimore as the symptom of a weak man under the spell of a domineering woman who shared his passion for drinking\, luxury and the high life.  \nWallis Simpson is a complicated woman whose life is shrouded in controversy. SUMMARY:Tom Hanks
DESCRIPTION:If you were watching TV in 1980\, you might have noticed a handsome\, curly haired 26-year-old named Tom Hanks starring in an innocuous new show about roommates who dressed up in drag in order to live in a women’s only residence. How could we imagine the silly star of “Bosom Buddies” would go on to become of the greatest stars in the entire history of the movies? Tom Hanks’ long career has led him to be compared with the great Jimmy Stewart – and the comparison seems more accurate with each passing year. \nLike Jimmy Stewart\, Tom Hanks has starred in almost every genre of movie. Hanks has been a smash doing comedy\, (“Splash” “Big”) drama (“Saving Private Ryan\,” “The Post\,” “Philadelphia”) and been a leading man in romantic films (“You’ve Got Mail.” “Sleepless In Seattle) Hanks has starred in historical epics (“Sully\,” “Bridge Of Spies\,” Apollo 13″) and has won two Oscars amidst his five nominations. Clearly\, Tom Hanks has built a legendary career\, appearing in almost eighty films. And at only 61\, he has the potential to keep working for a long time! \nPlease join us for this great multimedia presentation on the life and career of Tom Hanks.  \n

SUMMARY:Best Actors Never to Win an Oscar
DESCRIPTION:America has been in love with the movies for over 100 years. And every year the race for the Oscar is closely watched by movie fans around the world. Winning the Academy award connotes something special in the history of film. Movie buffs debate the winners and losers\, the snubs and the surprises.  But since the 1920s\, the Academy Awards have built a long historical record that we can examine. And how has the Academy award escaped actors working today such as  Leonardo DiCaprio\, Johnny Depp\, and Harrison Ford who have made some of the most highly acclaimed films ever? SUMMARY:Harding And Coolidge - Republican Presidents Of The 1920s
DESCRIPTION:After  World War I ended\, America turned away from the liberal progressive era of Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson and made a sharp turn toward conservatism. In 1920\, the Republicans nominated for president Warren G Harding\, an amiable Sen. from Ohio who promised “A return to normalcy.” For eight years the Republicans controlled the presidency\, Congress\, and the national debate. Within twelve  fascinating years the economy had gone from boom to bust and the “Roaring Twenties” had given way to the Great Depression. The seemingly perennial GOP majority evaporated with the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt.  Who were the Republican presidents whose pro-business\, low tax\, conservative presidencies led to an explosion and then the demolition of the American economy? They were very dissimilar in their backgrounds\, each with a fascinating back story that you will learn about in this unique multimedia presentation. \n Please Note: Registration is required for this program. SUMMARY:The Great Filmmakers: Preston Sturges
DESCRIPTION:In a span of just seven years\, Preston Sturges had an unparalleled run of making some of the greatest American movies of all time.    \nThe films of Preston Sturges are absolutely unique\, unforgettable and utterly brilliant. However\, although his Hollywood career lasted over 35 years\, the movies Preston Sturges wrote and directed between 1938-1945 alone were enough to cement his reputation as one of the most influential directors and respected screenwriters of all time.  After becoming the first screenwriter of the talking movie era to be allowed to direct his own films\,  Preston Sturges created a unique body of work that still delights and challenges and amuses audiences 80 years later. Furthermore\, his personal life was as unexpected\, unique and memorable as his movies! \nYou may be asking yourself: “So who is this guy and why have I never heard of him?” My response is: “Challenge yourself to become enthralled with the filmmaker whose name you may not know but whose movies are unforgettable!”

SUMMARY:Movies About Lincoln - Abraham Lincoln On Film
DESCRIPTION:No American President has been portrayed on film more often than Abraham Lincoln! \nFrom the earliest days of silent movies\, Lincoln has been featured in more movies than all other Presidents combined. The most brilliant of these iconic performances can be seen in John Ford’s groundbreaking “Young Mr. Lincoln” starring Henry Fonda. Raymond Massey played Lincoln so often on stage\, movies\, and TV that George S. Kaufman famously observed: “[Raymond] Massey won’t be satisfied until he’s assassinated!” \nEven in contemporary films such as Spielberg’s “Lincoln\,” the myth of Honest Abe grows and evolves with each movie. In this insightful\, mesmerizing and nostalgic multimedia presentation\, you will see my work as a Lincoln scholar combined with my love of classic cinema! \nPLEASE NOTE: This program is FREE\, but registration is strongly recommended!

SUMMARY:Alfred Hitchcock
DESCRIPTION:Sir Alfred Hitchcock directed some of the greatest suspense films of all time. Although his reputation has suffered somewhat because of the slasher/horror films he made in the early 1960s\, his work in the 1940s and 50s presented some of the most complex\, fascinating\, and suspenseful films ever made. His life and amazing body of work are highlighted in this multimedia presentation. \nBefore “Psycho” and “The Birds\,” Hitchcock created some of the most memorable suspense films ever made. Often starring Cary Grant or James Stewart opposite an icy blonde like Kim Novak or Grace Kelly\, the Golden Era of Hitchcock films were mysterious\, exciting\, and clever movies packed with tension.  \nConsider the masterpiece “Rear Window.” Stewart plays a globe-trotting photographer who is confined to his apartment with a broken leg. He spends all day staring at the apartments across the courtyard\, making up stories to explain the actions of the residents. But when he suspects that one of them has committed a murder\, his obsession becomes overwhelming. He draws his girlfriend and his nurse into believing his theory. Hitchcock’s mastery can be shown when you realize we\, the audience\, do not actually know if a murder took place at all! But for two hours we lean forward\, anxiously waiting to find out if what we think we have seen is what really happened! \nAlfred Hitchcock directed “Vertigo” which is considered by some critics to be the best movie ever made! “North By Northwest” contains two of the most iconic shots in cinema history! Who can forget Cary Grant running through a field being chased by a crop duster or the mad scramble across Mount Rushmore? Hitchcock’s style\, understated wit\, and clever personal cameos all worked together to create a unique and wonderful body of work. So distinctive is the style of Alfred Hitchcock that all subsequent suspense films are inevitably compared to his work! \nWe will also explore the twisted mind and complex life of Alfred Hitchcock

SUMMARY:Ernie Pyle - The Voice Of G.I. Joe
DESCRIPTION:Ernie Pyle was one of the greatest reporters in American history. after writing one of the most popular and widely published newspaper columns in the USA\, he became the voice of the average infantry soldier during World War II. In this role\, Ernie Pyle became legendary. \nThe Second World War was covered by a number of brilliant journalists. Edward R. Murrow broadcast brilliantly from the rooftops of London\, William L. Shirer personally witnessed the entry of Hitler into Austria and Walter Cronkite tirelessly covered the War for the United Press. Each filed memorable reports that helped Americans better understand the War. \nMeanwhile\, Ernie Pyle carved out an unforgettable niche for himself. Instead of covering the “big picture” of the War\, Pyle traveled alongside the infantry. He became what we today would call an embedded journalist. Marching alongside the average G.I. Joe – a term he helped popularize – Ernie Pyle reported the “little picture.” He recorded the daily gripes and fears and small moments of humor encountered by the foot soldiers marching through Italy and then Germany. Millions of Americans read his column every day. His prose was crisp and observant and caring and sardonic. \nWhen the War ended in Europe\, Ernie Pyle returned home to New Mexico. Then\, reluctantly\, Pyle to join the forces preparing to invade Japan. He was exhausted\, his personal life was in a shambles and he had a fearful premonition that he would die there. \nOn Okinawa\, Ernie Pyle was killed by a sniper. The grief felt by his millions of readers and the entire Army was all but immeasurable. Tributes flowed from the President\, from the leaders of the American military and from journalists around the world. \nPerhaps the simple plaque erected by the soldiers who had marched alongside him would have been his favorite memorial. It read: \n  \nAt this spot \nThe 77th Infantry Division  \nLost a buddy. \nERNIE PYLE. \n18 April 1945 \nTo this day\, Ernie Pyle’s unique life\, unforgettable writing\, and tragic death place him in the pantheon of great correspondents. The School Of Journalism at Indiana University is named for Ernie Pyle and a number of books and a movie have helped keep his memory alive. Even Snoopy would regularly hist a can of K-Rations on the anniversary of Ernie Pyle’s death on the island of Okinawa. \nPlease join me for a unique and powerful multimedia presentation!

SUMMARY:Diana: Life And Death Of The People's Princess
DESCRIPTION:Diana: Glamorous And Tragic Life And Death Of a Princess\nShe was the “People’s Princess” beloved for her compassion as much as for her glamour. \nSweet\, pretty Lady Diana Spencer was a shy and charming kindergarten teacher when she caught the eye of Prince Charles\, heir to the throne of Great Britain. At first\, to the public\, her story seemed like a fairytale. A pretty young girl had been plucked out of obscurity to marry the dashing Prince. But the truth of Diana’s private life was very\, very different from the public perception.   \nIn 1981\, an estimated 750 million people around the world watched the 20-year-old Diana marry her Prince amidst all the pomp and circumstance of the British Empire. But barely more than 10 years later she was bitterly divorced with two children\, suffering from severe depression and eating disorders\, brought out on by the realization that her cool and diffident husband had been having an affair with a long time girlfriend. \nAfter Princess Diana’s ugly public divorce\, she became an outcast from the British Royal family. Despite that\, she became even more beloved by the British public! She was seen as an affectionate and doting mother\, an icon of fashion style\, and most importantly as a tireless champion for humanitarian causes. Diana met with Mother Teresa in an effort to bring attention to the global aid epidemic. She risked her life to try and read war zones of the scourge of land mines. \nWherever she went\, whatever she did and whomever she dated\, Diana’s her every move was followed by the insatiable British press. They detailed DIana’s every date\, every vacation\, and every outfit. \nWhen Princess Diana died in a horrible car crash she was mourned by the world. Diana’s unexpected life\, veering between glamour and tragedy and her sudden and controversial death make for an unforgettable story. \n  \n
