SUMMARY:The Patient Is The President - Deaths And Near Deaths
DESCRIPTION:The assassination of John F. Kennedy shocked the nation. As the mortally wounded President was rushed to Parkland Hospital\, surgeons scrambled to try and save him. When the patient is the President\, the whole nation is watching the every move of the doctors. Since that fateful day in November 1963\, every choice\, action\, and report of the medical team has been scrutinized and second-guessed by professionals and laymen alike. As a result of the historical Monday morning quarterbacking of the public\, every medical treatment of every President since has been reported in minute detail! \nThis unique and fast-paced multimedia presentation will have you enthralled as we watch doctors desperately work to save the lives of Presidents Lincoln\, Garfield\, and Reagan after they were shot. We will also look at how other Presidential health crises were handled (or mishandled) by physicians. For instance\, President John Tyler might well have lived had his doctors simply done nothing at all!  Woodrow Wilson’s crippling stroke was kept secret from the public\, the media\, and even the Congress by his doctor. In each case\, we will look at what was done\, what wasn’t done and whether medicine today might have changed the diagnosis\, treatment or the outcome! \n

SUMMARY:Meghan Markle And Wallis Simpson - A Study Ii Contrasts
DESCRIPTION:The scandalous relationship between Wallis SImpson and Prince Edward led to a Royal abdication and quite nearly brought down the British Monarchy. The engagement of American actress\, model and philanthropist Meghan Markle to Prince Harry of Great Britain caused many people in America and in England to ask the same question: “Who is Meghan Markle?” \nThe interest was so intense that in December\, 2018\, Google declared that “Meghan Markle” was the most searched name in the entire year! \nThe short answer is that Meghan Markle is a deeply compassionate and quite brilliant graduate of Northwestern University (with degrees in both International Relations and Theater! The biracial American divorcee was a star on a popular cable TV show called “Suits” after a stint as a sexy  ‘briefcase girl’ on “Deal Or No Deal.”  But look deeper and you find that the remarkable Meghan Markle also ran a very influential motivational website with millions of followers and actively\, passionately served in numerous charitable enterprises. So while she is not as famous as Rita Hayworth or Grace Kelly\, Meghan Markle is a wonderful person and already very popular in England! \nWallis Simpson was the twice divorced\, promiscuous\, social climbing American who bewitched the weak-willed\, promiscuous future King of England. She was still married when she began her affair with the fitter King – and was actively cheating on him with another married man! Although Hitler said Wallis would make “A great Queen” the Royal Family and the British people thought differently. After King Edward’s abdication\, they were effectively banished from Britain! \nThis fascinating multimedia presentation will look at these two very different and very controversial women!

SUMMARY:Alexander Graham Bell: Communicating with the Future
DESCRIPTION:Alexander Graham Bell:\nCommunicating with the Future\nIf you mention the name Alexander Graham Bell\, one word immediately springs to mind: telephone. Bell\, a brilliant and determined educator as well as an important inventor of devices beyond the telephone changed the future. The invention of the telephone revolutionized the way we communicate with one another. But could even the great Alexander Graham Bell himself anticipate that someday you might well be reading this on a phone? \nAlexander Graham Bell came from a distinguished family of educators who had dedicated themselves to helping the deaf. The recurring theme throughout Bell’s life was an attempt to open the world of sound to those who were hard of hearing. This included his wife. It also included his mother. \n  \nThe life of Alexander Graham Bell is fascinating for what we don’t know. Had Alexander Graham Bell only invented the telephone\, he would absolutely be worthy of respect for all time.
But as you will learn in this multimedia biography presentation\, Bell did much more than invent the telephone. His other inventions had enormous impact on the technology of the time. Some are still in use\, in modified forms\, today. And then there is his work as an educator. His compassion for the hard of hearing was enormous. But he channeled his brilliant mind into finding solutions. \n \n  \nPlease join us for an interesting\, illuminating\, and intriguing look into the life of Alexander Graham Bell.

SUMMARY:Carl Reiner
DESCRIPTION:Carl Reiner is one of the funniest men ever to appear in – or write for – or direct an episode of TV! \nAt 97\, he is currently the oldest celebrity active on Twitter – and he is not even contemplating retiring from show business! Join me for a fast\, funny and fascinating look at one of America’s classic comic treasures\, Mr. Carl Reiner \nCarl Reiner first exploded into American consciousness as the straight man on the immortal Sid Caesar’s great TV shows. \nWorking alongside writing legends including Mel Brooks\, Woody Allen\, Neil Simon\, Selma Diamond and Larry Gelbart\, Carl Reiner became one of the volatile Caesar’s favorite co-stars and most trusted writers. \nTheir classic “Professor” sketches are still hilarious sixty-five years after they first aired. And his lifelong friendship and collaboration with Mel Brooks began as a result! \nAfter the Sid Caesar shows ended\, Carl Reiner created The DIck Van Dyke Show. This program would prove to be one of the most influential\, funniest and most transformative situation comedies of all time.  \nAfter Reiner and Van Dyke ended the show at the height of its popularity\, the brilliant writer/producer/director began working in feature films.  \nCarl Reiner created the cult classics “Where’s Poppa” and “Oh\, God” before embarking on a brilliant partnership with Steve Martin. The Reiner/Martin films include some of the best comedies of Steve Martin’s career\, including “The Jerk\,” “Alll Of Me\,” and “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid. \nWe’ll enjoy clips and stories from all of this – and\, of course – the brilliant “2\,000 Year Old Man” routines with Mel Brooks. Don’t miss this great presentation!

SUMMARY:Sidney Poitier
DESCRIPTION:Sidney Poitier is one of the greatest actors in the history of American film. \nAdditionally\, Sidney Poitier is the man who broke the color barrier in Hollywood. Like Barack Obama or Jackie Robinson\, he was more than just a symbol. He was a man of great talent\, skill and accomplishment. His success was not only his\, but a reminder of how America had squelched the talents of so many talented citizens.  \nMany fans of the “Golden Era” of “classic films” – including myself – have had to come to grips with the racist\, segregationist nature of those movies. Judy Garland\, Fred Astaire and Cary Grant were great actors and their films remain enjoyable. But look at the films as a whole and you will see the leading roles are all played by white actors. Black actors appear as slaves\, domestics\, field hands\, or drivers. As great as Garland\, Astaire and Grant were\, it’s important to remember they were given opportunities denied to Lena Horne\, the Nicholas Brothers or any black man before Sidney Poitier. The racism of classic Hollywood denied us from appreciating some great talent. \nSidney Poitier\, in his best roles\, was simply magnificent. \nWatch “The Defiant Ones\,” “Blackboard Jungle\,” “Lillies Of The Field\,” “In The Heat Of The Night\,” “To Sir\, With Love\,” and “A Patch Of Blue” and you see a great actor at the top of his game. Poitier could be as suave as Cary Grant\, as intense as Humphrey Bogart\, as relatable as Jimmy Stewart. And unlike those other great actors\, Sidney Poitier went on to have a fabulous director of money making movies! \nJoin us for a fascinating multimedia look at the life and career of the great Sidney Poitier!

SUMMARY:The Best Losing Presidential Candidates
DESCRIPTION:The Best Losing Presidential Candidates\n  \nHere is a historical question for you: \nWhat do Adlai Stevenson\, George McGovern\, Daniel Webster\, and Wendell Willkie have in common? \nEach of these talented\, admirable men ran for President and lost. \nAnd each was an outstanding person who might well have made a great President. \nIn this unique multimedia presentation\, I will share my list of the ten best men to run for President and lose.  I’ll offer fascinating glimpses into the men\, their times and the campaigns.  In addition to learning about the candidate himself\, we will explore why each man failed in his bid and do a bit of speculation on the different directions our country might have taken had the election been decided differently. \nConsider all the ways history might have changed if elections had gone differently. For instance\, how would America have responded on the morning of 9-11 if Al Gore had been elected  President? Can we guess in what ways World War II have been different if Wendell Willkie had been President on Pearl Harbor Day? We can speculate as to whether the Civil War have been fought if Stephen Douglas had beaten Abraham Lincoln?  It’s fun to think about and debate! \n  \n  \n  \n

We can speculate as to whether the Civil War have been fought if Stephen Douglas had beaten Abraham Lincoln?  It’s fun to think about and debate! \n  \n  \n  \n

\n  \n  \n  \n
