SUMMARY:Battle Of Trenton - Turning Point For Humanity
DESCRIPTION:The Battle Of Trenton\nThe iconic image of George Washington’s little boat crossing the Delaware River is firmly ingrained deep in the consciousness of America. Many people remember\, in general terms\, that General Washington took his army on rickety boats across an ice filled river to attack the enemy around Christmas time. The image of Washington Crossing the Delaware is so powerful and memorable that it has been used in  advertising\, comics\,\nand every avenue of popular culture. \nA deeper look at the Battle of Trenton shows us that it is actually an unmistakable turning point\, not only in the American Revolutionary war\, but in the history of the world. Although the Declaration of Independence made a breathtaking statement on the rights of man\, without the military victory at the Battle of Trenton\, the Revolutionary war and the Declaration  would merely be obscure footnotes in world history. They would just be anecdotal evidence of another failed revolt. \nWashington’s battle plan was audacious and his leadership was inspiring. After enduring a harrowing crossing of an ice filled river in a sleet storm in the middle of the night\, Washington’s men had to suffer through a nine mile march in a blizzard.  And then\, in less than ninety dramatic moments\, the Revolution was saved. The battle of Trenton was the first fight General Washington had won and is still the most important. SUMMARY:1920 - History In Perspective
DESCRIPTION:1920 was a fascinating year that ushered in an amazing decade!  \nAlthough Americans tend to think of “The Roaring 20s” as the era of flappers\, bathtub gin\, Al Capone\, a booming stock market\, and a much more liberal sexual atmosphere\, the decade was far more complex. The atmosphere of social liberalism was being counterbalanced by the non-stop election of conservative Republicans\, a major pushback from organized religion\, and signs of a deteriorating economy despite seeming prosperity.  \n1920 saw two seemingly opposite trends converge – Americans elected very conservative\, old-fashioned politicians at the same time they were beginning to flout conventional norms of behavior. As an example: we outlawed the sale of alcohol and almost  immediately there grew a culture of drinking\, new criminal organizations to sell booze and the glorification of those who opposed the very government they had just elected! \nWe will focus in on the specific year of 1920 – taking a deep dive into the culture\, sports\, movies\, economy and major news stories of a most fascinating\, transitional year!

SUMMARY:1945
DESCRIPTION:Join me in our time capsule for this amazing look back at one of the most important years in the history of the world: 1945. \nIn 1945 World War II finally came to an end. After the deaths of both Adolph Hitler and Franklin D. Roosevelt\, the evil Nazi empire finally surrendered. In the Pacific Theatre\, fierce battles came to an end with the dropping of the world’s first atomic bombs. The destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the war – but ushered in a vastly more dangerous era. \nWe will look at the most popular movies\, radio shows and songs of 1945\, discover what famous were born and which died during the year\, learn about what everyday consumer items cost and look back at the amazing\, ultimately heartbreaking World Series run of the Chicago Cubs! \nAmerica 75 years ago was very different – and tremendously important to how we live today.  \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Ten Greatest American Presidents
DESCRIPTION:The Ten Best American Presidents\n \nHow do we determine who were the greatest Presidents? \nOne recent poll of the American public disclosed that they believed Bill Clinton is the greatest President of all time! \nAnother recent poll\, this one only of Republicans showed that 5% of them considered George W. Bush was the greatest President of all time! \nLet’s not ask the public! \nWhen professional historians are asked to compile their lists of the greatest Presidents\, they usually choose Washington\, Lincoln\, and FDR as the best. (apologies to both Presidents Bush and Clinton!) \nBut after those three\, the lists become intriguing.  Does Truman belong in the pantheon?  How about Jefferson\, Jackson\, Theodore Roosevelt\, Reagan or Polk? Can a case be made on behalf of Madison\, Cleveland\, JFK or Wilson?  The debate is fun and the comparisons exciting!  I will prevent my intentionally provocative choices in this fast moving multimedia presentation. \n

SUMMARY:George Gershwin
DESCRIPTION:In a very short career\, George Gershwin changed American music forever. He was one of the most beloved composers of music for Broadway. his songs and shows continue to be revived on the New York stage and in theaters around the world. The list of standards written by Gershwin is seemingly endless.  “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off * Nice Work If You Can Get It * Shall We Dance * and  “They Can’t Take That Away From Me * are just a sample of the many popular songs written by Gershwin; most with unforgettable\, urbane lyrics by his ferociously talented brother\, Ira. \nGeorge Gershwin continued to challenge himself  by creating music in challenging and unique styles. He wrote “Porgy and Bess” including the iconic “Summertime” in a blues style\, wrote the unforgettable “Rhapsody in Blue” fusing jazz and classical elements\, and music for ballet\, “An American In Paris.”  \nHe had just conquered Hollywood with his first movie musical\, the sublime “Shall We Dance” starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers when he died of a brain tumor. The master of American music was just 38. \nIn this lively and fascinating multimedia presentation\, you will be amazed by the amazing biography\, unparalleled career and enduring legacy of George Gershwin. \n

SUMMARY:Tom Hanks
DESCRIPTION:If you were watching TV in 1980\, you might have noticed a curly haired 26-year-old named Tom Hanks starring in an innocuous new show about roommates who dressed up in drag in order to live in a women’s only residence. How could we imagine the silly star of “Bosom Buddies” would go on to become of the greatest stars in the entire history of the movies? Tom Hanks’ long career has led him to be compared with the great Jimmy Stewart – and the comparison seems more accurate with each passing year. \nLike Jimmy Stewart\, Tom Hanks has starred in almost every genre of movie. Hanks has been a smash doing comedy\, (“Splash” “Big”) drama (“Saving Private Ryan\,” “The Post”) and been a leading man in romantic films (“You’ve Got Mail.” “Sleepless In Seattle) Hanks has starred in historical epics (“Sully\, Apollo 13”) and has won two Oscars amidst his five nominations. Clearly Tom Hanks has built a legendary career\, appearing in almost eighty films. And at only 61\, he has the potential to keep working for a long time! \nPlease join us for this great multimedia presentation on the life and career of Tom Hanks. PLEASE NOTE: This event is not open to the public. \n

SUMMARY:Super Tuesday 2020 - The Election Takes Shape
DESCRIPTION:Super Tuesday\, 2020\, is shaping up to be one of the most important and one of the most unorthodox primary days in presidential election history! \nOn the night before Super Tuesday\, three major candidates dropped out and endorsed former Vice President Biden. Will their endorsements come in time to affect the vote? Meanwhile\, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has spent over half a billion dollars on TV ads despite not running in any of the first four contests. How he will affect the vote and how the Bernie Sanders movement stands up to the new moderate coalition is going to be fascinating!

SUMMARY:Charles Lindbergh - A Life In Three Acts
DESCRIPTION:Charles Lindbergh led one of the most unique lives of any American! \nLindbergh’s life played out in three acts. The first is the most celebrated and best known. The “aw shucks” small town boy with a passion for flying became the first person ever to fly solo across the Atlantic. “Lucky Lindy” was the most famous\, popular and revered man of his time. Everyone around the world admired and respected him! \nThe second act of the life Col. Charles Lindbergh took on a much darker tone. When\nhis infant son was kidnapped from crib while his parents were at home\, Lindbergh was again the biggest news story in the country. While police frantically searched for the kidnapped boy\, Lindbergh did everything in his power to find his son. He had gangsters trying to help\, followed “psychics” to obscure locations and accompanied an innocent civilian who strangely became the go-between with the kidnappers.  \nAfter the boy’s body was discovered\, Charles Lindbergh became a star witness in the second “Crime Of The Century.” (Click here to read about the first!) The verdict in that trial became as controversial and widely debated as would the O. J. Simpson case near the end of the century. Books are still being written about it! \nThe third act of Lindbergh’s life is the least known and the most bizarre. \nCharles Lindbergh\, the All-American hero\, became on of the nation’s most prominent supporters of the Nazi movement in Germany. Both in America and in Europe\, Lindbergh lent his famous name and considerable influence to try and convince the USA to support Hitler! \nYou will be amazed at the fascinating and complex life of Charles Lindbergh!

SUMMARY:Sherman's March To The Sea - Saving America By Destroying A Rebellion
DESCRIPTION:Sherman’s March To The Sea – Saving America By Destroying A Rebellion\n No military action in the bloody Civil War was probably more controversial than Sherman’s March To The Sea. After the War\, traitors who were inclined to respect Grant and revere Lincoln were unreconstructed in their hatred of William T. Sherman. Why? The brutal\, unprecedented destruction of enormous swaths of the South hastened the end of the War and sped the end of the barbarous\,immoral and inhumane practice of the enslavement\, rape and murder of the descendants of kidnap victims. Sherman hastened the demise of that unspeakable activity. However the utter desolation of the lives and lands of so many White Southerners had a long-lasting impact on race relations and politics. \nSherman was a complex man\, brilliant and fragile\, harsh and yet sentimental. His troops adored him\, leaders of the terrorist rebellion feared him and Abraham Lincoln recognized his invaluable patriotic service to our nation. \nIn this fast paced and constantly fascinating multimedia presentation\, we will learn how Gen. William Sherman and his dedicated troops easily crushed the army of traitors who stood in their way – in the process making military history and helping save the republic. Add to that his friendship with General Grant\, his deep respect for President Lincoln\, his amazing life after the war – they all make for a compelling and fascinating multimedia history presentation!   \n

SUMMARY:America's Greatest First Ladies
DESCRIPTION: \nWho were America’s Greatest First Ladies?\nNobody really knows! \nToday\, the press and public pay great attention to the President’s spouse. However\, the role of First Lady was not given so much as a moment’s thought by the Founding Fathers. In fact\, the title “First Lady” itself was not even widely used until the 1850s! Nonetheless\, our First Ladies represent an amazing array of accomplished women\, each with a unique story and a unique place in American History. \nIn this original series I will present a list of my top ten favorite First Ladies.  I promise that at least a couple of my choices will be women you would have never considered! \nOf course you know about the legacy of Eleanor Roosevelt. But did you know that the lives of children\, women\, and pediatricians are made better every day in real ways by the legacy of First Lady Harriet Lane? Or that almost a century before Jackie Kennedy we had a younger First Ladywho became an icon of style in the White House while raising adorable children? (Click here to read about Frances Cleveland\, pictured on the magazine cover.) \nAlthough there are so many fascinating stories in this multimedia presentation! It is not merely a collection of trivia.  Rather we will examine how the historical roles of women have changed from the days of marvelous Martha Washington\, a slave owner\, to modern Michelle Obama\, the descendent of slaves! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Who Killed JFK – Historian Presents a Modern Analysis
DESCRIPTION: Who Killed JFK?\n I’ll Tell You! \n \nThe murder of John F. Kennedy on November 22\, 1963\, shocked the nation. A suspect was quickly arrested and subsequently murdered. President Lyndon Johnson appointed a blue ribbon committee – the Warren Commission – to answer the question: who killed JFK? \nTheir conclusion was that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin. Immediately\, the public was skeptical. Stephen King described Oswald as “a semi-educated hillbilly with delusions of grandeur.” How could such an insignificant loser pull off such a dastardly crime? And why did Jack Ruby\, accused of being a Mob member\, kill Oswald? \nWe have been through with whispered knowledge of conspiracies and confessions and coverups. And so the public has asked for an explanation of the “magic bullet.” \nAnd the contradictory witness statements. \nAnd Oswald’s shadowy past. \nAnd all of the “secret files.” \nAnd all of the conspiracy theories. \nAnd all of the “mysterious deaths” associated with the assassination? \nBooks and articles\, movies and documentaries have raised in innumerable questions about who killed JFK. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis\nSo who killed JFK? I will attempt to answer as many of these questions as possible. First I will attempt to separate historical fact from theory & speculation. Second\, I will show what the historical record actually indicates happened. We have access to much more information today then the Warren Commission had in 1963/4 or the House of Representatives had in 1977. Third\, we will examine what modern computer forensics can tell us about the crime. For instance\, the Warren Commission had access to the “Zapruder Film.”  Today\, we can use computers to enhance and analyze the film. We can use modern technology to analyze the path of each of the bullets that were fired. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis \nAnd we can use computers to isolate the mysterious sounds captured by a Dallas motorcycle patrolman.  In 1977\, the House of Representatives believed that the recording showed four shots fired in Dealy Plaza.  The National Academy of Science\, among many other groups\, have taken the same sound recordings and used state-of-the-art technology to analyze them. What do we know now? \nYou may not agree with my conclusions\, but you will definitely learn a lot and come away with a new perspective about the historical record of who killed JFK. \nBONUS! Click Here to read the amazing story of how one of President Kennedy’s most trusted Secret Service agents saved the life of Harry Truman – TWICE!
