SUMMARY:Author Talk - Bobbi Blend Book Club
DESCRIPTION:📚 Author Visit: The Bobbi Blend\nYou are receiving this notice because I will be joining a book club for a complimentary author discussion of my novel\, The Bobbi Blend. \nI am delighted to speak with readers about the inspiration behind the story\, the characters\, the themes of family and healing\, and to answer your questions about the writing process. \nIf you would like me to visit your book club (virtually or in person)\, please email me directly to arrange a date. \nFor more information about the book — including ordering links\, discussion materials\, and background — please visit:www.thebobbibooks.com \n\nAbout the Novel\nDr. Bobbi Wyatt is a brilliant neurologist and devoted single mother living in New York City. She has built a full and meaningful life for herself and her eleven-year-old daughter — grounded in family\, friendship\, and purpose. She is not searching for romance; she is content with the life she has created. \nOne afternoon\, while standing in an art gallery\, Bobbi wanders in — and a painting unexpectedly transports her emotionally into another place and time. When she turns\, a man is standing beside her. The connection is immediate and inexplicable. \nThat man is BR Bradford — a globally famous billionaire composer\, philanthropist\, and single father raising his five-year-old adopted daughter. Though admired by millions\, BR has quietly carried trauma and depression while striving to live ethically and give back to the world. Meeting Bobbi is not a rescue — it is a revelation. \nWhat follows is a refreshing love story that gently overturns common romance tropes. Bobbi does not need saving. She owns her home\, her career\, and her independence. Instead\, the novel focuses on two accomplished adults choosing love — carefully\, thoughtfully — while blending their families and healing from the past. \nRather than relying on dramatic heartbreak or sensational twists\, The Bobbi Blend offers something rarer: a hopeful\, emotionally intelligent story about partnership\, parenting\, resilience\, and love that grows stronger with intention. \n\nA Reader Review\n“SR Bradford challenges the expected romance formula in this heartfelt story. Instead of waiting for disaster to strike\, readers are invited into a tender\, grounded love story about two people healing and building a life together. The emphasis on family\, patience\, and emotional growth makes this novel feel genuine and uplifting. A warm\, slice-of-life romance that leaves you feeling hopeful.”

SUMMARY:TV In The 1970s
DESCRIPTION:TV IN THE 1970s \nWhat was television like during the 1970s? \nIt was the decade of Roots and The Love Boat.  Silly television comedies were everywhere!  The 1970s was the decade of Laverne & Shirley\, The Fonz\, Mork and Mindy\, WKRP in Cincinnati\, Three’s Company\, The Brady Bunch\, and the Partridge Family. \nDramas became very formulaic and\, for the most part\, somewhat bland.  But Norman Lear created All in the Family\, a groundbreaking comedy that led to a national debate about racism\, conservatism\, homophobia\, abortion\, mental illness\, and almost every important social issue of the time.  And they did so in a way that was so funny that the show was the top-ranked show on television for a record five consecutive years.  As Archie Bunker became the voice of  Richard Nixon’s “Silent Majority\,” other topical comedies such as Chico and the Man\, The Jeffersons\, Sanford and Son\, Maude\, and Good Times began to change the face of what television situation comedies would look like. \nPerhaps no one changed the role of women on television more than Mary Tyler Moore.  Her program broke ground with a monumentally popular view of a single working woman in a professional career. \nFinally\, M*A*S*H   captivated America with his unique and unforgettable combination of drama\, comedy\, politics\, and personality set against the backdrop of the Korean War\, opening a discussion about what had happened in Vietnam. \nThis fast-moving multimedia presentation is more than nostalgic.  It’s also an insightful look at what we were watching and why we were watching it at that moment.  The 1970s were a unique decade\, and television reflected and shaped how we lived. \n

SUMMARY:Over There: America In World War I
DESCRIPTION:It was “The War To End All Wars” and “The War To Make The World Safe For Democracy.” When Woodrow Wilson reversed the policy of American non-involvement in foreign wars\, he broke a tradition that had begun with George Washington. The role of America in World War I remains vitally important as our nation makes strategic decisions about peace and war. \nThe effects of World War I are both obvious (the rise of the Nazi government in Germany) and less immediately apparent. As an example\, as a result of America’s involvement in World War I\, the groundwork was laid for the eventual establishment of Israel. \nOver There: America In World War I\nThis fast-moving and fascinating multimedia presentation will trace the roots of American involvement in “The Great War\,” including how it reshaped the major political parties. \nWe will examine the military participation of American troops fighting for the first time on European soil\, and then assess the unexpected impact of the peace process President Wilson designed. \nYou will be amazed at how it laid the groundwork for the rise of Hitler\, the start of World War II\, and even the War in Vietnam! \n

SUMMARY:Unusual Movie Musicals
DESCRIPTION:What is the greatest movie musical of all time? “Singin’ In The Rain\,” “Grease\,” “The Wizard Of Oz\,” “West Side Story\,” and a number of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films would pop up in many lists. However\, this fun multimedia presentation will not cover an of them! Instead\, you’ll be introduced to some wonderful but decidedly unusual movie musicals. \nWe will see the great Harry Belafonte’s only movie musical – in which he sings music from Bizet’s opera Carmen and a stunning recreation of the Las Vegas strip\, built on a movie soundstage. Each of these unusual films is fabulous in its own way. \nOur cinematic journey will take us from a 1980 film in which Olivia Newton-John plays a daughter of Zeus who roller skates down from Mount Olympus to dance with Gene Kelly before inspiring a struggling artist to build a roller disco (seriously!) to a 1968 full-length\, kaleidoscopic animated feature using voice actors to recreate the Beatles saving us from the Blue Meanies\, this entertaining and quirky program is filled with unexpected delights! \n  \n\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Private Book Club Event: The Bobbi Blend \nI am looking forward to joining a wonderful book club for a private discussion of my novel\, The Bobbi Blend. \nThe book tells the story of Dr. Bobbi Wyatt\, a brilliant neurologist and single mother whose carefully structured life is quietly transformed when she meets BR Bradford—a wealthy\, intensely private\, world-famous artist and single father whose life could not be more different from her own. What follows is not a typical romance\, but a story grounded in emotional safety\, mutual respect\, and the real-life complexities of blending families. It has been especially meaningful to hear from readers who have connected with its warmth\, its strong female lead\, and its refreshing departure from familiar tropes. \nIf your book club is looking for a meaningful and engaging discussion—whether in person or virtual—I would truly enjoy connecting with you. You can learn more about the book here: \n👉 www.thebobbibooks.com

SUMMARY:The Life Of Harriet Tubman
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe life of Harriet Tubman is one of the most extraordinary tales of heroism\, sacrifice\, and courage you will ever hear. Many Americans know the name of Harriet Tubman as a conductor of the Underground Railroad. They remember that she led many enslaved people to freedom. But like Rosa Parks or Paul Revere\, she’s remembered more as a symbolic figure than as a real-life person whose life was dramatic before and after her daring rescues behind enemy lines. \nIn this fast-moving and fascinating multimedia presentation\, you will meet the woman behind the legend. The life of Harriet Tubman includes being a spy\, a nurse\, an advocate for women’s suffrage\, and the distinction of being the first American woman ever to lead regular army troops into combat! I love this presentation\, and I think you will as well!

SUMMARY:TV in the 1980s
DESCRIPTION:If the 1970s\, comedies tented to be the ground breakers and dramas were mostly bland and formulaic.  TV  in the 1980s tended to be quite different. While there were important comedies\, most notably  The Cosby Show\, Cheers  and The Golden Girls\, for the most part TV comedies in the 1980s  were simply pleasant diversions like Alf\, The Wonder Years\, Perfect Strangers\, & Silver Spoons. \n TV in the 1980s\nDramas began to show a much more modern style\, moving away from the predictable\, bland formulaic cop and doctor shows popular in the 1970s. Hill Street Blues\, LA Law\, 30 Something\,  & St. Elsewhere were each terrific in and of themselves. But they are popular and artistic success also points to a more mature era of television dramas. \n  \nFinally\, the 1980s were the heyday of must-see evening television soaps. Falcon Crest\, Dallas\, Knots Landing & Dynasty garnered phenomenal ratings and mesmerized many viewers. This multimedia presentation will explore what we watched and why we watched it in a transitional decade for American television. \n

SUMMARY:The Chicago Cubs - 1945 - 2016
DESCRIPTION:  \nIn the first half of the 20th century\, the Cubs were one of the mightiest teams in baseball—a perennial pennant contender despite not winning the World Series since 1908. \nThe second half of baseball’s 20th century entrenched a memorable phrase in America’s national consciousness:  The Chicago Cubs were “lovable losers.” Despite having some great players – Ernie Banks\, Ron Santo\, Billy Williams\, Fergie Jenkins\, Greg Maddux\, Mark Grace\, Ryne Sandberg\, Kerry Wood\, Carlos Zambrano\, and Sammy Sosa – the Cubs rarely reached the postseason.  More commonly\, they mostly endured one long losing season after another long losing season.  Empty bleachers\, a crumbling  Wrigley Field\, cheap ownership\, and terrible trades became the lasting hallmarks of the once mighty Chicago Cubs.  Even when the Cubs occasionally field a strong\, competitive team and begin to make a promising postseason run\, something always seems to go wrong.  The Cubs were still “lovable losers.” \nIn 1969\, a black cat running in front of Ron Santo seemed to symbolize the utter futility of the Cubs.  A customarily sure-handed first baseman let a ball go by him\, and the postseason was lost.  A hapless fan wearing headphones reached for a foul ball\, and our World Series hopes were dashed.  On and on it went.  And then came 2015!  The arrival of some of baseball’s most talented prospects created a fun\, exciting\, and competitive team.  In 2016\, the Cubs finally won the World Series! \nThe long\, slow march of the Cubs – from the cheapness and racism of the Wrigley years to the boredom and inactivity of the years of ownership by the Chicago Tribune and by Sam Zell has given way to a unique feeling of hopefulness on the part of Cub fans.  A robust ownership team brought in the financial resources and personnel necessary to begin turning the Cubs into a perennial contender once again.  In this multimedia presentation\, filled with fabulous film clips\, amazing anecdotes\, and nostalgic photos\, we will trace the confounding  Chicago Cubs from 1945 to 2016. \n  \n

SUMMARY:James Madison And James Monroe: Influential Founding Fathers
DESCRIPTION:Their names are similar; their life spans are almost identical and each was considered one of the most influential of the founding fathers. Yet despite their very different personalities\, philosophies\, and achievements\, most Americans today would have a hard time distinguishing one from another. This even though one of them is the primary author of the Constitution (James Madison) and the other is one of the greatest heroes of the Battle of Trenton. (James Monroe)  Each served as president of the United States\, and their presidencies were very different as well. \nWe will look at the far-ranging influence of these two great men.  As their lives intersected with people like George Washington\, Thomas Jefferson\, Benjamin Franklin\, and John Adams\, each was to become revered for their patriotism\, courage\, wisdom\, and enormous contributions to the growth of the new nation. \nCOST\nThe program is available for a minimum contribution of $5.00\, which helps support my work and allows me to continue offering engaging content. \nPAYMENT OPTIONS \nCash/Check\nPayable to: Barry Bradford\nMail to:\nBarry Bradford\nP.O.
