Trump. We will address the venues\, charges\, and likelihood of conviction in each trial. \nThe Past Trials of Trump\nIn 1972-3\, a U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division investigation into racial discrimination in housing by the Trump organization ended with Donald Trump and his father paying one of the most enormous fines in history. Significantly\, it was a Republican Attorney General appointed by Richard Nixon\, who approved the investigation. \nThroughout his business career\, Donald Trump has had to settle many cases in which he and his organization were at fault. A lawsuit against Trump University for fraud was resolved through a series of agreements. In November 2016\, shortly after the U.S. presidential election\, President-elect Donald Trump agreed to pay $25 million to settle the three fraud lawsuits against Trump University. \nThe Indictments: Falsifying Tax Documents\nIn March 2023\, former President Donald Trump faced his initial indictment from the Manhattan\, New York\, District Attorney on state charges connected to a hush-money transaction involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016. \nThe New York prosecutors claim that Trump was involved in an illicit scheme aimed at compromising the legitimacy of the 2016 election. \nFurthermore\, they assert that he took part in an illegal strategy to prevent unfavorable details from emerging\, which encompassed the $130\,000 payment. Former President Trump has pleaded not guilty in response to these allegations. \nThe Indictments: Mishandling Classified Documents\nIn June 2023\, a federal grand jury in Miami issued an indictment against Trump. The charges stemmed from his alleged possession of classified national defense documents taken from the White House after his presidential term ended\, along with accusations of obstructing government efforts to recover these materials. Each of these unusual films is fabulous in its own way. \nOur cinematic journey will take us from a 1980 film in which Olivia Newton-John plays a daughter of Zeus who roller skates down from Mount Olympus to dance with Gene Kelly before inspiring a struggling artist to build a roller disco (seriously!) to a 1968 full-length\, kaleidoscopic animated feature using voice actors to recreate the Beatles saving us from the Blue Meanies\, this entertaining and quirky program is filled with unexpected delights! \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Lyndon Johnson is one of the most complex men I’ve had to be president. He was capable of great cruelty and insensitivity. However\, as President  LBJ became a tireless champion of the poor\, the marginalized\, and the oppressed within the USA. This multimedia program covers the fascinating evolution of Lyndon Johnson’s thinking about the government’s role in guaranteeing freedom of equality for African-Americans. LBJ and civil rights may seem like an unlikely tandem. But ultimately\, other than Abraham Lincoln\, no president did more to advance the cause of African-Americans than Lyndon Baines Johnson! \nLBJ and Civil Rights\nWe will begin with a quick overview of Johnson’s personal sympathies regarding helping the poor and contrast it with his votes in the House of Representatives against civil rights legislation. Beginning in 1957\, LBJ\, as majority leader\, became a tentative ally of the civil rights movement. As president\, LBJ used all of his political skill and muscle to get Congress to pass two landmark bills that reshaped justice and upended the electoral map in ways that are still important. \nThe Civil Rights Act of 1964 finally ended legal segregation in America. The Voting Rights Act  (1965) established the government as a powerful ally in guaranteeing African-Americans in the South would have the right to vote. Few presidents have ever passed two more significant\, breathtaking pieces of legislation. They reshaped American expectations about race. \nThe Election of 1964\, on the surface\, does not seem particularly interesting. Lyndon Johnson crushed Republican Barry Goldwater in a massive\, historic landslide.
