SUMMARY:Medgar Evers: Is It Ever Too Late To Do The Right Thing?
DESCRIPTION:Medgar Evers Is My Hero.\nMedgar Evers\, a brave Civil Rights leader\, was assassinated in the driveway of his home\, murdered by a Ku Klax Klan leader bent on blood. \nWhat offense had Medgar Evers committed? He was trying to register African Americans to vote in Mississippi in 1963. \nHis murderer was quickly identified – but lived as a free man for thirty years until an unstoppable wife\, a dogged newspaperman\, and a brilliant prosecutor managed to get the case reopened.  On the fortieth anniversary of the murder\, I hosted the official National Day Of Remembrance and had the chance to meet and befriend his widow\, his family\, and many of his friends. I will bring their tremendously moving personal stories to life. \nMyrlie Evers hugs Barry Bradford students. \nThis multimedia presentation is very personal to me. You will be amazed – it is jam-packed with inside information on the thrilling trial\, amazing anecdotes\, and a heavy dose of drama.  An emotional turning point in American law and history will come alive as you witness whether it is ever too late to do the right thing. \nREGISTRATION \nALL registration MUST be done in advance. You can register for this event by calling the customer service desk at 847-291-2993

SUMMARY:Carousel and Cinderella - Rodgers And Hammerstein
DESCRIPTION:Carousel and Cinderella – Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classics – are very different\, yet each is influentially popular and often revived today. \nIn 1945\, “Carousel”; was the second great hit for the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. The nostalgic\, sentimental\, and emotional story has brought audiences to tears ever since it premiered. It has brought audiences to tears ever since it premiered. The song” “You’ll never Walk Alone” is one of the most emotionally evocative songs ever written in any contacts. We will look at the development of this great Broadway musical and see how Rodgers and Hammerstein’s artistry lifted a somewhat mawkish story to great heights of Broadway magic. \nRodgers and Hammerstein’s lovely musical\, “Cinderella” was the first major musical written directly for television. Despite the extremely limited production facilities and technology available back in 1957\, the show was brilliant! Starring Julie Andrews\, producing many hit songs\, and inspiring several televised revivals\, “Cinderella” is often overlooked as one of the great Rodgers and Hammerstein classics. The show is such unforgettable work of art that it was even produced as a full Broadway musical\, to great critical acclaim\, in 2013. Remarkably\, that is almost half a century after “Cindarella” first appeared on television! \nJoin us for this fun and fast-moving multimedia presentation! \nCOST \nI ask for a voluntary donation of $5.00. SUMMARY:Cole Porter - Risque Master Of American Music
DESCRIPTION:Cole Porter is one of the greatest songwriters in American history. His melodies were sublime. His lyrics were creative\, witty\, sophisticated\, original\, and naughty. Cole Porter was the ultimate European oriented sophisticate – yet he was born in tiny Peru\, Indiana! \nPorter’s list of songs includes some of the most incredible entries in the great American Songbook!  Consider: \nLET’S DO IT (LET’S FALL IN LOVE) (1928) \n NIGHT AND DAY (1932) \nANYTHING GOES (1934) \n DON’T FENCE ME IN (1934) \nI GET A KICK OUT OF YOU (1934) \nBEGIN THE BEGUINE (1935) \n I’VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN (1936) \nIT’S DE-LOVELY (1936) \nPorter’s legacy was further assured by brilliant Broadway shows like “Kiss Me Kate” and “Can-Can.” But beneath the surface of this bon-vivant lay a tortured soul. Cole Porter lived in both psychic and physical pain much of his life. His life story\, his personality\, and his unforgettable music combine for a memorable multimedia presentation! \nThis presentation is not open to the general public.

SUMMARY:Carl Reiner
DESCRIPTION:Carl Reiner is one of the funniest men ever to appear in – or write for – or direct an episode of TV! \nAt 97\, he is currently the oldest celebrity active on Twitter – and he is not even contemplating retiring from show business! Join me for a fast\, funny\, and fascinating look at one of America’s classic comic treasures\, Mr. Carl Reiner \nCarl Reiner first exploded into the American consciousness as the straight man on the immortal Sid Caesar’s great TV shows. \nWorking alongside writing legends including Mel Brooks\, Woody Allen\, Neil Simon\, Selma Diamond\, and Larry Gelbart\, Carl Reiner became one of the volatile Caesar’s favorite co-stars and most trusted writers. \nTheir classic “Professor” sketches are still hilarious sixty-five years after they first aired. And his lifelong friendship and collaboration with Mel Brooks began as a result! \nAfter the Sid Caesar shows ended\, Carl Reiner created The DIck Van Dyke Show. This program would prove to be one of the most influential\, funniest\, and most transformative situation comedies of all time.  \nAfter Reiner and Van Dyke ended the show at the height of its popularity\, the brilliant writer/producer/director began working in feature films.  \nCarl Reiner created the cult classics “Where’s Poppa” and “Oh\, God” before embarking on a brilliant partnership with Steve Martin. The Reiner/Martin films include some of the best comedies of Steve Martin’s career\, including “The Jerk\,” “All Of Me\,” and “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid. \nWe’ll enjoy clips and stories from all of this – and\, of course – the brilliant “2\,000 Year Old Man” routines with Mel Brooks. Don’t miss this great presentation!

SUMMARY:The History Of Presidential Impeachment
DESCRIPTION:James Madison and the Founding Fathers were deeply concerned about what would\nhappen if a president lost his moral bearing and committed crimes while serving as chief executive of the land. Their concern led them to include impeachment in the Constitution as a necessary remedy for Congress to remove a corrupt president. The history of presidential impeachment is fascinating and instructive. In this multimedia presentation\, we will look at each of the four presidential impeachments. In this multimedia presentation\, we will look at each of the four presidential impeachments that went to trial. \nFirst\, we will look at why first we will look at why the 1868 Republican House Of Representatives impeached Democrat Andrew Johnson for willfully and blatantly violating a law\, the hotly contested Tenure of Office Act. \nNext\, we will examine why the 1998 Republican House Of Representatives impeached Democratic President Bill Clinton for lying under oath tour grand jury after a sex scandal. \nFinally\, we will look at the two impeachment trials of Donald Trump. As the only President to be impeached a second time (no one else came close)\, we learned about impeachment during his two trials will have significant ramifications for the future. \n\nThe first\, a mostly partisan matter\, centered on alleged corruption in the Presidents dealing with a foreign power to win an election. Although impeached by a Democratic House Of Representatives\, Trump became the first President ever to have a member of his party vote for his conviction\, The second impeachment of Pres. Trump was the most bipartisan in history. The second impeachment of Pres. Trump was the most bipartisan in history. It’s stemmed from his actions when. It’s derived from his actions when domestic terrorists invaded the capital building in Washington\, DC. \nYou won’t want to miss this multimedia presentation! \nCOST \nI ask for a voluntary donation of $5.00. SUMMARY:The Many Faces of Danny Kaye
DESCRIPTION:The Many Faces of Danny Kaye\nDanny Kaye was a brilliant comic. He sang well enough to do duets with Bing Crosby\, Louis Armstrong\, and even Beverly Sills. He danced beautifully with Vera-Ellen\, a woman often considered the best technical dancer in the movies. His movies gathered legions of fans. His TV show won awards. When it came to show business\, it seemed there was nothing Danny Kaye could not do! \nBut the many faces of Danny Kaye are not limited to his unparalleled career in entertainment.
