SUMMARY:Medgar Evers: Is It Ever Too Late To Do The Right Thing?
DESCRIPTION:Medgar Evers Is My Hero.\nMedgar Evers\, a brave Civil Rights leader\, was assassinated in the driveway of his home\, murdered by a Ku Klax Klan leader bent on blood. \nWhat offense had Medgar Evers committed? He was trying to register African Americans to vote in Mississippi in 1963. \nHis murderer was quickly identified – but lived as a free man for thirty years until an unstoppable wife\, a dogged newspaperman\, and a brilliant prosecutor managed to get the case reopened.  On the fortieth anniversary of Medgar Evers’ murder\, I hosted the official National Day Of Remembrance and had the chance to meet and befriend his widow\, his family\, and many of his friends. I will bring their tremendously moving personal stories to life. \nMyrlie Evers hugs Barry Bradford’s students. \nThis multimedia presentation is very personal to me. You will be amazed by the story – it is jam-packed with inside information on the thrilling trial\, amazing anecdotes\, and a heavy dose of drama.  The trial of the murderer of Medgar Evers proved to be an important and emotional turning point in American law and history will come alive as you witness whether it is ever too late to do the right thing. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Walter Cronkite: And That's The Way It Is
DESCRIPTION:2016 marks the 100th birthday of Walter Cronkite. In an era when the “mainstream media” is a convenient whipping boy for any politician upset by unfavorable coverage\, it is hard to imagine that at one time a network news anchorman was voted “the most trusted man in America.”  How times have changed! \nWalter Cronkite was one of the most widely read news reporters covering World War II.  Cronkite’s reporting on the war was read by millions of Americans and he was highly respected for his clear concise prose and great ability to explain complex events. After the end of the Second World War\, he came back and worked for CBS news. \nAlthough never one of Edward R Murrow’s “boys\,”  Cronkite quickly built a sterling reputation at CBS for superb reporting\, insightful analysis\, and calm\, steady work at the anchor booth.   When the network decided to go to a 30 minute nightly national newscast\, Walter Cronkite was the logical choice to be the anchorman. He was the man America turned to to learn about the space program\, political conventions\, elections\, Vietnam\, and\, most memorably\, the murder of Pres. John F. Kennedy. \nPlease join us for a fascinating and memorable multimedia presentation looking at the life and career of one of the most respected American broadcast journalists of all time. \n Please Note: There is a fee to attend this program and registration is required\, but easy. Please contact the venue for more information. \n

SUMMARY:Natalie Wood
DESCRIPTION:Natalie Wood was one of the most popular and glamorous actresses of the 1950s and 60s. She starred in numerous classic films including\, “Miracle on 34th St.” “Rebel Without a Cause\,” “West Side Story\,” “Gypsy\,” “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice\,” “Splendor in the Grass\,” “Sex and the Single Girl\,” & “The Great Race.” Her stunning looks\, popular performances\, and her marriages and romances made her a staple on magazine covers for 20 years. \nShe’s one of the few performers to have a significant career as a child\, teenager\, and adult. Although critics were often less than impressed by her acting ability\, she set a record by becoming only the second actress to receive three Academy Awards before she turned 25 years old! (Jennifer Lawrence and Sairose Ronan have since bested that record.) \nWhen Natalie Wood was only 43\, a mother of two\, with a great career in films and television potentially still ahead\, she died under mysterious – possibly criminal – circumstances in the Pacific Ocean. \nThis fascinating multimedia public speaking presentation will explore her troubled life\, fabulous career\, and the mysterious death of Natalie Wood.

As a result\, we can accurately break down which groups of voters made the difference. With the drama of a deeply divided electorate\, a wildly controversial president\, and unprecedented turnout as Americans ended up voting during a pandemic\, the election of 2020 will be an endlessly fascinating source of study for historians for years to come!\n \nIn this spellbinding nonpartisan multimedia presentation\, presidential-award-winning historian Barry Bradford will separate the documented\, verified facts from the conspiracy theories. SUMMARY:Who Killed JFK – Historian Presents a Modern Analysis
DESCRIPTION: Who Killed JFK?\n I’ll Tell You! \n \nThe  murder of John F. Kennedy on November 22\, 1963 shocked the nation. A suspect was quickly arrested and subsequently murdered. President Lyndon Johnson appointed a blue ribbon committee – the Warren Commission – to answer the question: who killed JFK? \nTheir conclusion was that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin. Immediately\, the public was skeptical. Stephen King described Oswald as “a semi-educated hillbilly with delusions of grandeur.” How could such an insignificant loser pull off such a dastardly crime? And why did Jack Ruby\, accused of being a Mob member\, kill Oswald? \nWe have been through with whispered knowledge of conspiracies and confessions and coverups. And so the public has asked for an explanation of the “magic bullet.” \nAnd the contradictory witness statements. \nAnd Oswald’s shadowy past. \nAnd all of the “secret files.” \nAnd all of the conspiracy theories. \nAnd all of the “mysterious deaths” associated with assassination? \nBooks and articles\, movies and documentaries have raised in innumerable questions about who killed JFK. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis\nSo who killed JFK? whoI will attempt to answer as many of these questions as possible. First I will attempt to separate historical fact from theory & speculation. Second\, I will show what the historical record actually indicates happened. We have access to much more information today then the Warren Commission had in 1963/4 or the House of Representatives had in 1977. Third\, we will examine what modern computer forensics can tell us about the crime. For instance\, the Warren Commission had access to the “Zapruder Film.”  Ttoday\, we can use computers to enhance and analyze the film. We can use modern technology to analyze the path of each of the bullets that was fired. \nWho Killed JFK – Computer Analysis \nAnd we can use computers to isolate the mysterious sounds captured by a Dallas motorcycle patrolman.  In 1977\, the House of Representatives believed that the recording showed four shots fired in Dealy Plaza.  The National Academy of Science\, among many other groups\, have taken the same sound recordings and used state-of-the-art technology to analyze them. What do we know now? \nYou may not agree with my conclusions\, but you will definitely learn a lot and come away with a new perspective about the historical record of who killed JFK.

SUMMARY:Two Heroes From History
DESCRIPTION:Today\, I challenge you to join me to learn about two fabulous heroes from history – even though you are probably not familiar with either name. This is the kind of history I love to present. It’s challenging and yet so intriguing to take the time to learn something completely unexpected and at the same time unfamiliar. \nWe will focus on Daisy Bates. How did this Arkansas woman lead movement that would shock the nation\, focus attention on segregation\, and caused President Eisenhower to send federal troops into open Central High school in Little Rock\, Arkansas? \nThen we will look at the controversial and complex Reverend Vernon Johns. He led the most influential African-American church in Alabama\, pushing the educated elite congregation to become involved in the civil rights movement. When he was eventually fired\, the church brought in a new pastor they considered less controversial. The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.! \nDON’T STOP READING!\nYou may be thinking that you don’t want to sign up because you’ve never heard of either of these people. I understand that. SUMMARY:America's Greatest First Ladies
DESCRIPTION: \nWho were America’s Greatest First Ladies?\nNobody really knows! \nToday\, the press and public pay great attention to the President’s spouse. However\, the Founders did not give the role of the First Lady so much as a moment’s thought by the Founding Fathers. In fact\, The nation did not even widely use the title “First Lady” itself until the 1850s! Nonetheless\, our First Ladies represent an amazing array of accomplished women\, each with a unique story and a unique place in American History. \nIn this original series\, I will present a list of my top ten favorite First Ladies.  I promise that at least a couple of my choices will be women you would have never considered! \nOf course\, you know about the legacy of Eleanor Roosevelt. But did you know that the lives of children\, women\, and pediatricians are made better every day in real ways by the legacy of First Lady Harriet Lane? Or that almost a century before Jackie Kennedy\, we had a younger First Lady who became an icon of style in the White House while raising adorable children? (Click here to read about Frances Cleveland\, pictured on the magazine cover.) \nAlthough there are so many fascinating stories in this multimedia presentation! It is not merely a collection of trivia.  Rather we will examine how the historical roles of women have changed from the days of marvelous Martha Washington\, a slave owner\, to modern Michelle Obama\, the descendent of slaves! \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Gregory Peck
DESCRIPTION:If your mental picture of Gregory Peck is that of a straight-shooting\, honest\, compassionate\, masculine but sensitive man who would always have your back and always stand up for the underdog\, you’d be very close to the truth!  While far from being a perfect man\, Gregory Peck was a good man who was deeply admired within the industry and beloved by fans. When President Nixon put the liberal Democrat Gregory Peck and his so-called “enemies list\,” Peck Ward as a badge of honor. Peck was also given a true badge of honor when President Lyndon B. Johnson awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. \nAs we talk about the films of Gregory Peck\, of course\, your mind will leap to his iconic portrayal of Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” However\, Park made almost 60 films beginning in 1944 with “Days Of Glory” and concluding in 1991 with the fabulous “Other Peoples Money.” Among his great classics are “Roman Holiday\,” “The Guns of Navarone\,” “Spellbound\,” “Moby Dick\,” and Gentleman’s AGreement.” \nYou may be surprised to find that Gregory Peck was also a very committed liberal activist. He stood in favor of the Civil Rights Movement and stood against Joe McCarthy\, the war in Vietnam\, and raised money to defeat segregationist candidates in major political races. His life makes for a fascinating multimedia presentation that you will not want to miss! \nIMPORTANT – REGISTRATION!\nRegistration is free! Click here to register. However\, be aware that the program starts at 1:00 PM Chicago time and 2:00 PM New York time. Adjust accordingly!

SUMMARY:M*A*S*H
DESCRIPTION:M*A*S*H is one of the most important\, influential\, and intriguing television series of all time. \nM*A*S*H was set during the Korean War.\, However\, the creators of M*A*S*H intended to make a statement about the ongoing war in Vietnam and war in general. When it finally left the air after 11\, M*A*S*H had won a slew of Emmys\, numerous other awards and was recognized already as one of the classic television series ever broadcast. \nThis is not a nostalgia program. Although we will watch some fabulous multimedia clips from the show\, our focus will be on how the show was created\, how M*A*S*H evolved\, and how the series influenced television and society.

SUMMARY:Harry Belafonte
DESCRIPTION:This has become one of my favorite new programs. And it is certainly one of the most surprising programs I have ever researched! \n\nWhen I began my research\, I thought I would be talking about a popular entertainer from the 1950s who introduced calypso music to America. \nAs I dug deeper\, I quickly realized that Harry Belafonte was one of the most important and influential leaders of the civil rights movement. In early  1968\, Johnny Carson turned over the Tonight Show to Harry Belafonte for an entire week! The “sit-in” as it was called\, featured Belafonte interviewing guests including Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King! \nYou’ll find out that Harry Belafonte was one of Martin Luther King’s closest friends and most trusted advisers\, deeply involved in the civil rights movement at every turn. \nSo what are you prefer my “straight history” presentations or my popular culture presentations\, this one is for you! \nThis makes for a completely unique multimedia presentation. \nWe will watch fabulous clips of Harry Belafonte performing spectacular calypso numbers –  and we will also hear him criticize Barack Obama for not doing enough to help African-Americans! \nI urge you to sign up for this program. There is no other entertainer or activist who combines the unique characteristics\, charismatic personality\, and thoughtful philosophy of Harry Belafonte! \nCOST \nI ask for a voluntary donation of $5.00. If you cannot afford it or feel my programs are not worth $5.00\, you are invited to come for free; I am struggling but supporting a family\, so I understand with compassion living on a tight budget! \nCash/Check Payable to Barry Bradford \nBarry Bradford \nP.O.
