SUMMARY:Ulysses S. Grant - Warrior And President
DESCRIPTION:After three years of tremendous bloodshed\, Union losses and a seemingly endless stalemate \, President Lincoln appointed Ulysses S. Grant to head the USA Army. The War was over less than a year later.  Grant saved the Union\, crushed the terrorists and helped free millions of people who were the children\, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of kidnap victims from the cruel system that exploited them physically and sexually.  His leadership and vision destroyed a racist rebellion. By devising a brilliant strategy along with General Sherman\, winning the complete support and unswerving loyalty of President Lincoln and bravely leading a courageous army\, Grant is rightfully ranked along with Washington and Patton as one of our greatest commanding officers. In the election of 1876\, the country turned to him again. As  President\, Ulysses S. Grant \nPresident Grant \ntook important steps to rebuild the country\, help the exploited and homeless victims to the terrorists and tried advance America’s technological growth. Alas\, his administration was mired in scandal.  Yet in recent years\, historians have begun to reevaluate his terms as President. His historical reputation has improved. This fascinating multimedia presentation looks at his difficult private life\, happy marriage and his invaluable contributions to the USA as a General and as a President. \nPlease note: this event is offered through Harper College and registration is required.

SUMMARY:The Ten Greatest American Presidents
DESCRIPTION:The Ten Best American Presidents\n \nOne recent poll of Americans found that they believed Bill Clinton is the greatest President of all time! \nA recent poll of Republicans showed that 5% of them thought George W. Bush was the greatest President of all time! \nLet’s not ask the public! \nWhen historians are asked to compile their lists of the greatest Presidents\, they usually choose Washington\, Lincoln and FDR as the best. (apologies to Mr. Clinton!) But after those three\, the lists become intriguing.  Does Truman belong in the pantheon?  How about Jefferson\, Jackson\, Theodore Roosevelt\, Reagan or Polk? Can a case be made of Madison\, JFK or Wilson?  The debate is fun and the comparisons exciting!  I will prevent my intentionally provocative choices in this fast moving multimedia presentation. \n
