SUMMARY:Benjamin Franklin
DESCRIPTION: Benjamin Franklin has been called “The First American.” Certainly\, there is no life that can compare to his. Benjamin Franklin was one of the most successful businessmen in American history. Although Franklin started his life in poverty\, he grew to be phenomenally wealthy. \nFranklin was a fantastic businessman\, a brilliant writer\, a political leader of immeasurable importance to America\, a world-renowned scientist\, and his inventions have been credited with saving countless lives throughout the centuries. And Franklin was also one of the funniest\, most charming\, and highly respected men of all times \nIn this fast-moving multimedia presentation\, we will look at all aspects of the life of the amazing \n \nBenjamin Franklin.  He invented the lightning rod\, bifocal glasses\, the Franklin stove (which heated American homes for many years)\, the first working pedometer and so many other practical items. But I think one of his greatest inventions is a little harder to recognize. Click here to read a short piece about what I consider Benjamin Franklin’s greatest invention. This exciting and unexpected multimedia presentation will examine Franklin’s immensely important role in shaping American business\, giving voice to the new American nation\, and transforming the world through his experiments and inventions. \n

SUMMARY:The Revolutionary War
DESCRIPTION:Most Americans simply do not know very much about the Revolutionary War.   \nAlthough certain images from the Revolutionary War are seared into our memory – Washington Crossing the Delaware and the signing of the Declaration of Independence –  many people would be hard-pressed to name a major battle\, a leading general\, or even how the War For Independence ended.  Recent events in America have caused some to question whether we should even have statues of George Washington on public display. \nTHE REVOLUTIONARY WAR\n In this four-part series on the Revolutionary War\, we will examine why the freest and most prosperous colonials in the world decided to declare independence from a mother country that had protected them. We will look at the roots of the war\, the Declaration of Independence\, the early battles\, including Lexington\, Concord\, and Bunker Hill\, before transitioning into a longer look at the seven years of fighting necessary for America to begin its experiment in participatory democracy. We will also look at the amazing and diverse leaders who guided America. Benjamin Franklin\,James Monroe\, John Adams\, Paul Revere\, George Washington\, Thomas Jefferson\, and Alexander Hamilton will be some of the people we will meet. I encourage you to learn more about how America came to be! \n
