But Bergen and McCarthy were so popular that their fame actually played a key role in the  legendary Orson Welles “War Of The Worlds” hoax! W. C. Fields\, oe of the most popular comics in the films of the 1930s hated children. His hatred spilled over into a legendary “feud” with Charlie McCarthy! \nThis warm\, hilarious and loving one-of-a-kind multimedia presentation combines rare film clips with great inside stories explaining how Edgar Bergen became so famous – as a ventriloquist on the radio! \nPlease Note: This program is presented by the North Shore Senior Center.
