SUMMARY:1994 - History In Perspective
DESCRIPTION:This unique edition of my popular  “History In Perspective” series zeroes in on 1994. \nBill Clinton was the President\, but a Republican landslide in the 1994 Congressional elections led to the Whitewater investigation and\, ultimately\, to a vote to impeach the President. Politics had become a “blood sport” and the “politics of personal destruction” became the norm. \nAlthough there were wars in Rwanda and Bosnia\, many Americans were  upset by the Major League Baseball strike. And the story of the year was the arrest of O. J. Simspson for murder! \nWe will look at how America lived in 1994. From the cost of everyday items to the results of the Cubs\, Sox\, Bears and Bulls seasons\, we will look at many aspects of American life. 1994 gave PlayStation and the first predator drones\, the death of Jackie Kennedy and Richard Nixon and the birth of Justin Bieber and Sairoise Ronan. You’ll enjoy this freewheling look at a most unique year!

SUMMARY:America's Greatest First Ladies
DESCRIPTION:Who were America’s Greatest First Ladies?\nNobody really knows! \nToday\, the press and public pay great attention to the President’s spouse. However\, the role of First Lady was not given so much as a moment’s thought by the Founding Fathers. In fact\, the title “First Lady” itself was not even widely used until the 1850s! Nonetheless\, our First Ladies represent an amazing array of accomplished women\, each with a unique story and a unique place in American History. \nIn this original series I will present a list of my top ten favorite First Ladies.  Of course you know about the legacy of Eleanor Roosevelt. But did you know that the lives of children\, women\, and pediatricians are made better every day in real ways by the legacy of First Lady Harriet Lane? Or that almost a century before Jackie Kennedy we had a younger First Ladywho became an icon of style in the White House while raising adorable children? (Click here to read about Frances Cleveland\, pictured on the magazine cover.) \nAlthough there are so many fascinating stories in this multimedia presentation! It is not merely a collection of trivia.  Rather we will examine how the historical roles of women have changed from the days of marvelous Martha Washington\, a slave owner\, to modern Michelle Obama\, the descendent of slaves! \n  \n
