DESCRIPTION:  \nOur wonderful learning community is going to have a (virtual) Election Day Party! Republican or Democrat\, liberal or conservative\, all are welcome!  We will meet at 45 minutes after the hour\, for about 13 minutes) from 12:45 pm to 12:45 am with expert analysis. Between 5 and 6 pm we will have an open forum where you can ask any question of political scientist Kelly Jones-Wagy and me\, share your opinions and learn about the races. Of course you do not need to join us for every session – just join us to celebrate democracy\, even in an odd year! This will be our celebration of learning\, friendship and democracy! \nVirtual Election Day Party: Tentative schedule: (All Times Central) \n12:45 – Dr. Smallwood\, Chair of the Political Science Department of North Carolina A + T discusses the crucial Presidential\, Senate and Governor races in the key swing state. \n1:45 – Dr. Anderson\, Professor at the University of Maine discusses the hotly contested Senate race involving Susan Collins. \n2:45 – Dr. Caufield\, Professor of Political Science at Drake University (Iowa) discusses the crucial Senate race and close Presidential polling in Iowa. \n3:45 Political Scientist Kelly Jones-Wagy from Colorado gives us the inside scoop on the Democrats’ plan to flip the Senate Seat in Colorado from red to blue. \n4:45  Dr. Klar\, Professor of Political Science at the  University of Arizona\, will be discussing the key swing state of Arizona and the hotly contested Senate race in the Grand Canyon State! \n5:00 – 6:00 An hour long open forum with elections expert and award-winning  political scientist Kelly Jones-Wagy and me. Before we start getting the first  vote totals\, this is your chance to ask about any candidate or race\, any procedure\, any state — and we will answer live! As time permits\, open discussion where you can share your views and opinions will be available.  \n6:45 – We should have significant results from the East. I’ll break down what we know and don’t know! Special guest Stephanie Akin\, Political Reporter for Congressional Quarterly/Roll Call will talk about the races in South Carolina\, Kansas and Alaska. \n7:45 – We should have significant results from the Midwest. I’ll break down what we know and don’t know! \n8:45 – We should have early results from the Great Plains . I’ll break down what we know and don’t know! \n9:45- We will look at where the race is at as we await votes from the Democratic strongholds on the Pacific Coast. Kelly Jones-Way rejoins us for questions! \n10:45 – As more returns come in… \n11:45 – …we look at the Senate…. \n12:45 – ….we will have a great sense of the next President\, although the race may not yet have been called!
