Neither liberal nor conservative\, he made few political friends and found himself isolated even from those in his own party. \nPresident Carter brimmed with self-confidence and a moral compass that told him what to do and whom to trust. \nThe common perception of Carter is that he was a lousy President (except for the Camp David Accords) and our greatest ex-resident.
