SUMMARY:The History Of Presidential Impeachment
DESCRIPTION:James Madison and the Founding Fathers were deeply concerned about what would\nhappen if a president lost his moral bearing and committed crimes while serving as chief executive of the land. Their concern led them to include impeachment in the Constitution as a necessary remedy for Congress to remove a corrupt president. The history of presidential impeachment is fascinating and instructive. In this multimedia presentation\, we will look at each of the four presidential impeachments. In this multimedia presentation\, we will look at each of the four presidential impeachments that went to trial. \nFirst\, we will look at why first we will look at why the 1868 Republican House Of Representatives impeached Democrat Andrew Johnson for willfully and blatantly violating a law\, the hotly contested Tenure of Office Act. \nNext\, we will examine why the 1998 Republican House Of Representatives impeached Democratic President Bill Clinton for lying under oath tour grand jury after a sex scandal. \nFinally\, we will look at the two impeachment trials of Donald Trump. As the only President to be impeached a second time (no one else came close)\, we learned about impeachment during his two trials will have significant ramifications for the future. \n\nThe first\, a mostly partisan matter\, centered on alleged corruption in the Presidents dealing with a foreign power to win an election. Although impeached by a Democratic House Of Representatives\, Trump became the first President ever to have a member of his party vote for his conviction\, The second impeachment of Pres. Trump was the most bipartisan in history. The second impeachment of Pres. Trump was the most bipartisan in history. It’s stemmed from his actions when. It’s derived from his actions when domestic terrorists invaded the capital building in Washington\, DC. \nYou won’t want to miss this multimedia presentation! \n

SUMMARY:1861 The Civil War Year By Year - Reflections On Amercia's Deadliest War
DESCRIPTION:1860 & 1861 The Civil War Year By Year\nEvery Wednesday in June\, we will look at a different year in the Civil War! The Declaration Of Independence stated\, “We hold these truths to be self-evident\, that all men are created equal…” The Civil War tested whether or not we really meant it. In 1860 and 1861 the Civil War began. \nThis exciting four-week series will trace the history of the Civil War. In 1860\, our nation faced one of the most crucial elections in our history.  Four great candidates stood for office.  The only real issue was slavery.  Today we see the practice of kidnapping human beings and holding them against their will as abhorrent.  In 1860\, the economy and social structure of an entire region of the United States was built on the premise that kidnapping and bondage were acceptable means of making money.  Our four-week series begins with an in-depth look at the Lincoln Douglas debates of 1858\, the election of 1860\, and the secession of the Confederate States. \nIn 1861 the United States Civil War began in earnest.  We saw American citizens in revolt against the Constitution while holding millions of people against their will.  We saw personal tragedies unfold as the tender-hearted Abraham Lincoln saw the body of the first American patriot killed by the rebels brought back to Washington DC.  The body was that of Elmer Ellsworth.  He was a close friend of Lincoln’s. The death of Elmer Ellsworth represents the personal nature of this deadly fight. \nPeople happily brought picnic baskets to watch the First Battle Of Bull Run unfold.  By the end of the battle\, America knew was not glamorous and victory would be difficult. Among the topics to be covered are the election of 1860\, the secession of the terrorist groups\, and the first year of the Civil War. \nWe will explore how in 1861 the Civil War began a great test of America’s moral purpose\, military strength and future direction began. \nToday the battlefields of the Civil War are quiet. \n \nWe will see how they were the sites of the greatest struggle in American history. \n
