SUMMARY:Julia Child: Spy And Chef
DESCRIPTION:Julia Child: Spy And Chef\n \nIn 1963 Julia Child became the first national superstar chef on TV.! \nHer program “The French Chef” was so influential that the Smithsonian Institute features her kitchen\, intact\, as a permanent exhibit! Julia Child changed the way America thought about food\, became the first star of public broadcasting\, opened the doors for cooking on television\, and became one of the first and most important faces of public broadcasting. Quite a legacy for a woman who was neither French nor a chef! \n There was another side to Julia Child–one that the public knew little about.  In 1943\, twenty years before her cooking and media skills would make her famous\, Julia Child served in America’s top secret spy corps during World War II!  The amazing Julia Child worked in the OSS\, \nJulia Child – In China WWII \nwhich was later to become the CIA. Utilizing a very high level of security clearance\, amazing organizational skills\, and endless optimism and resourcefulness\, the former party girl from California served America her nation. She worked at the right hand of “Wild Bill” Donovan\, the head of America’s foreign spies! With her husband\, Paul\, Julia Child moved from one dangerous overseas post to another\, serving our country before she learned how to cook. \n  \nThe daring story of Julia Child in the OSS is only one of the delights in this unique\, funny\, and fascinating multimedia presentation! SUMMARY:Carl Reiner
DESCRIPTION:Carl Reiner is one of the funniest men ever to appear in – or write for – or direct an episode of TV! \nAt 97\, he was currently the oldest celebrity active on Twitter – and he was not even contemplating retiring from show business! Join me for a fast\, funny\, and fascinating look at one of America’s classic comic treasures\, Mr. Carl Reiner \nCarl Reiner first exploded into American consciousness as the straight man on the immortal Sid Caesar’s great TV shows. \nWorking alongside comedy writing legends including Mel Brooks\, Woody Allen\, Neil Simon\, Selma Diamond\, and Larry Gelbart\, Carl Reiner became one of the volatile Caesar’s favorite co-stars and most trusted writers. \nTheir classic “Professor” sketches are still hilarious sixty-five years after they first aired. And his lifelong friendship and collaboration with Mel Brooks began as a result! \nAfter the Sid Caesar shows ended\, Carl Reiner created The DIck Van Dyke Show. This program would prove to be one of the most influential\, funniest\, and most transformative situation comedies of all time.  \nAfter Reiner and Van Dyke ended the show at the height of its popularity\, the brilliant writer/producer/director began working in feature films.  \nCarl Reiner created the cult classics “Where’s Poppa” and “Oh\, God” before embarking on a brilliant partnership with Steve Martin. The Reiner/Martin films include some of the best comedies of Steve Martin’s career\, including “The Jerk\,” “All Of Me\,” and “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid. \nWe’ll enjoy clips and stories from all of this – and\, of course – the brilliant “2\,000 Year Old Man” routines with Mel Brooks. Don’t miss this great presentation!

SUMMARY:The History Of ABC
DESCRIPTION:The youngest of the big three broadcasting networks\, the American Broadcasting Company (ABC)\, began as an offshoot of NBC and was for decades mired in third place in the ratings. That began to change when Walt Disney stepped in. Disney helped popularize color broadcasting and led to the development of a new identity for ABC. Nonetheless\, it was not until the 1970s\, with the introduction of young-skewing\, sitcoms that it was entirely clear that ABC would survive!\n \nEventually developing a more youth-oriented schedule\, ABC carved out a special and popular identity of its own. While today the network is primarily known for its endless parade of ‘reality’ shows (“The Bachelor\, “Extreme Makeover\,” “Dancing With The Stars”) and recycled game shows (“The Match Game\,” “Supermarket Sweep\,” Card Sharks)\, ABC is also the network that brought innovations like “Whose Line Is It Anyway\,” Monday Night. Football\, “Roots” and “The Fugitive\,” as well as 20/20 and Barbara Walters’\, mesmerizing interviews.\n \n\nJoin us for this fun and fascinating multimedia look at a giant of American Broadcasting!
