America has had powerful and polarizing First Ladies before.  Mary Lincoln.  Eleanor Roosevelt. But no First Lady has ever shattered the glass ceiling like Hillary Clinton.  She has been a lightning rod for the right and icon for progressive women.  Hillary Clinton had already built an amazing professional record before becoming First Lady.  In fact, no First Lady in history can match her professional career!  When her husband was the Governor of a small southern state, she was chosen as one of the one hundred most influential lawyers in America! Her amazing success has come at great personal cost. As First Lady she had to deal with her husband’s infidelity and a troubled marriage. Hillary Clinton faced vicious ongoing attacks on her character that included bizarre accusations of murder.  She was serving as the United States Senator from New York on the morning of 9/11.  Her daughter was working not from the World Trade Center and Senator Clinton could not reach her for hours.
