Our time machine lands in 1946 – a fascinating year of transition in America! The beginning of the “baby boomer” era saw a miracle starting to realize the “new normal” of the postwar era. 

The first bikinis were sold in honor of the island where the first atomic bomb was exploded. The United Nations was formed to prevent future wars, but America was struggling to understand its place in the New World order. The country was crippled by strikes, uncertain about its president, Harry Truman, and ready to usher in an era of Republican congressional leadership.

So as the G.I. Bill was sending millions of former soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen back to college, America was wondering what it would take to get back to normal. Our time machine Will show us what were the most popular movies of the year and what famous people were born and died. We will look at what things cost, how Las Vegas was created, contemplate the top news stories of the year, and what inventions patented that year would reshape the future. Get ready to learn about the most popular music, radio shows and glimpse the future of television as of 1946 comes alive in this fast-moving multimedia presentation.
