Our time capsule lands 50 years ago in the tumultuous year of 1972. As the Vietnam war dragged on, the battles between Archie Bunker and his son-in-law, ‘Meathead Mike’ Stivic accurately reflected the deep divisions in 1972 America. ‘All In The Family’ Nixon went to Russia and to China and then won overwhelming reelection in the shadow of the just emerging story of Watergate.
1972 brought us great films, a terrorist massacre at the Olympics, rising wages, and a changing style of TV. Jackie Robinson and Harry Truman died while Dwayne Johnson and when is Paltrow were born. Mark Spitz and Olga Korbut became sports legends and don McLean anthem “American Pie” shut off the charts. You will be amazed at what a fascinating year 1972 words!
