August 28 @ 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Our popular “Time Capsule.” programs return with this brand new entry: “1974 – America 50 Years Ago.
Each program will take you deep into American life during the year in question. We will look at the famous people who were born and passed away that year, examine the top news stories, and dive into popular culture, sports, and politics.
This is a history presentation that is fresh, fast, and fascinating!
In 1974, 50 years ago, the nation was stunned as disgraced President Richard Nixon was forced to resign over his crimes during Watergate. The incoming president, Gerald Ford, then issued a far-reaching pardon that impacts current events 50 years later! The Sears Tower opened, Stephen King published his first novel, Patricia Hearst was kidnapped, “All In The Family” revealed the depth of the cultural divide, and the United States instituted a 55-mile-an-hour speed limit.
Don’t miss this exciting and thought-provoking presentation – fifty years in the making!
