He was a brilliant and determined educator, a compassionate advocate for the deaf, and a prolific inventor whose innovations went well beyond the telephone.

Bell came from a distinguished family of educators devoted to helping the hard-of-hearing
—a mission he carried forward with passion and brilliance. His lifelong goal was to open the world of sound to the deaf, a quest that touched his personal life deeply: both his mother and his wife were deaf.
The life of Alexander Graham Bell is as remarkable for what is less known as it is for what is celebrated. Had he invented only the telephone, Bell would still be remembered as a giant of innovation. But as you’ll discover in this compelling multimedia biography, his other inventions—many of them ahead of their time—had a profound impact on the technology of his era. Some remain in use, in modernized forms, even today.
