On a stifling July day in 1776, our Founding Fathers agreed to a document that was completely unique.  There had been many revolutions over the centuries, but never had one begun with a philosophical purpose statement. Although the Declaration of Independence has no legal power, it has become the guiding beacon for what America strove to become. As a nation we are a world leader in human rights and, yet, still a work in progress.
