On a stifling July Thursday in 1776, our Founding Fathers agreed to a completely unique document in the world’s history. There had been many revolutions over the centuries, but never had one begun with a philosophical purpose statement.
Although the Declaration of Independence has no legal power, the Declaration has become the guiding beacon for what America strives to become. As the events of 2020 showed, we as a nation are a world leader in human rights, yet, America is still a work in progress.
Why study the Declaration of Independence? Because it is the ultimate statement of what we hope to become. It has been quoted by freedom movements in the USA and worldwide.
Yet many Americans know surprisingly little about it. In this exciting and thought-provoking multimedia presentation, I will present the thrilling themes, difficult negotiations, contradictory, complex, charismatic personalities, and exciting events leading to the most critical moment in American history.
