From 1929 to 2024, 601 movies were nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Of those, 22 were directed by women. In this exciting, brand-new two-part multimedia presentation, we will examine all 22 fantastic Oscar-nominated best movies directed by women.

From Penny Marshall and Barbra Streisand to Greta Gerwig and Kathryn Bigelow, women have directed films that have inspired, entertained, or challenged us. Some of the movies are intimate dramas; others are sprawling epics.
