It has brought audiences to tears ever since it premiered. The song” “You’ll Never Walk Alone” is one of the most emotionally evocative songs ever written in any contact. We will look at the development of this great Broadway musical and see how Rodgers and Hammerstein’s artistry lifted a somewhat mawkish story to great heights of Broadway magic.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s lovely musical “Cinderella” was the first major original musical written directly for television. Despite the extremely limited production facilities and technology available back in 1957, the show was brilliant! Starring Julie Andrews, producing many hit songs, and inspiring several televised revivals, “Cinderella” is often overlooked as one of the great Rodgers and Hammerstein classics.
The show is such an unforgettable work of art that it was even produced as a full Broadway musical, to great critical acclaim, in 2013. Remarkably, that is almost half a century after “Cinderella” first appeared on television!
