It was the first “crime of the century” – America’s most famous architect, murdered at a high society party on the rooftop of Madison Square Garden, shot by an insane millionaire son of one of America’s wealthiest families, all to avenge supposedly honor of his wife, the first supermodel in American history. If this had only been written as a movie script, it would have been a blockbuster. But it really happened. Stanford White was murdered by Harry K. Thaw who accused White of drugging and raping showgirl/model Evelyn Nesbitt. It was the first celebrity murder case in American history.
in this one-of-a-kind multimedia presentation, we will learn about the facts of the case and how they have been represented – and misrepresented in movies including, “Ragtime” and “The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing.” The stories are mesmerizing, the personalities are unforgettable and the offense are so unique that they fascinate us even today.
