Over There: America In World War I

November 4, 2018 @ 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Woodrow Wilson World War I

It was “The War To End All Wars” and “The War To Make The World Safe For Democracy.” When Woodrow Wilson reversed the policy of American non-involvement in foreign wars, he broke a tradition that had begun with George Washington. The role of America in World War I is still vitally important as our nation makes strategic decisions on both peace and war.

The effects of World War I are both obvious (the rise of the Nazi government in Germany) and less immediately apparent. As an example, as a result of the involvement of America In World War I, the groundwork was laid for the eventual establishment of Israel.

Over There: America In World War I

Woodrow Wilson World War IThis fast-moving and fascinating multimedia presentation will trace the roots of American involvement in “The Great War,” including how it reshaped the major political parties. We will look at the military participation of American troops fighting on European soil. As we look at the effects of The Great War on the American home front after the Doughboys returned, we  will look at length at the peace process and how it laid the groundwork for the rise of Adolph Hitler and the start of World War II

PLEASE NOTE: The program is free to the public!
