Queen Elizabeth

April 19, 2016 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

At this writing, Queen Elizabeth is the longest reigning monarch in the world. A shy young girl when she ascended Queen Elizabeth IIthe throne, she saw her uncle abdicate the throne and advocate pro-German views in the years leading up to World War II. She watched as her father struggled to overcome a speech impediment and then work tirelessly to inspire the British people during the Second World War. His death at a young age propelled and unprepared and timid girl to the most important throne in Europe.

Queen Elizabeth’s 50 year reign has seen an enormous changes to the monarchy, the nation she serves in the world at large. We will examine how she has grown in the job despite major stumbles including her epic mishandling of the death of Princess Diana. Her unparalleled life give us great insight into the changes brought about by a rapidly changing world in the wake of World War II.
