March 20, 2016 @ 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Many filmmakers have a signature style. John Ford was master of the Western. Alfred Hitchcock created great thrillers. Howard Hawks made great romantic comedies. But Billy Wilder was the master of all genres – he made romantic comedies and courtroom dramas, prisoner of war films and sex farces. And he made them better than anybody else. From Double Indemnity to Some Like it Hot to Stalag 17, from The Seven Year Itch to Sunset Boulevard, from Witness To The Prosecution to the Apartment, the unparalleled range, talent and genius of Billy Wilder showed through almost every genre of film. An immigrant who came to America speaking little English. he became revered as one of the greatest screenwriters of all time.
In this fast moving multimedia presentation we will trace the personal story and professional triumphs of a brilliant screenwriter/director who reshaped the movies – time and time again. Studded with fabulous clips from his greatest films, this presentation will amuse, challenge, and fascinate you!
