Over There: America In World War I

April 23, 2019 @ 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

It was called “The War To End All Wars” and “The War To Make The World Safe For Democracy.” When Woodrow Wilson reversed the policy of American non-involvement in foreign wars, he broke a tradition that had begun with George Washington.

The role of America in World War I is still vitally important as our nation makes strategic decisions on both peace and war.

The effects of World War I are both obvious (the rise of the Nazi government in Germany) and less immediately apparent. As an example, as a result of the involvement of America In World War I, the groundwork was laid for the eventual establishment of Israel. The roots of the Vietnam War can also be traced to the peace process that ended World War I!

Over There: America In World War I

World War IThis fast-moving and fascinating multimedia presentation will trace the roots of American involvement in “The Great War,” including how it reshaped the major political parties.

We will look at the military participation of American troops fighting for the first time on European soil and then look at length at the peace process President Wilson designed. You will be amazed at how it laid the groundwork for the rise of Hitler and the start of World War II and even for the War in Vietnam!

PLEASE NOTE: This is a FREE presentation! It will be repeated at 9 pm! No reservations are necessary, but call the MCC Office if you have any questions or special needs!
