and settled into acting. For over a half a century, he has been featured in some of the most popular and important American films of his era. As a Director, he has won an Academy award, become perhaps the most important champion of independent filmmaking through his creation of the Sundance Film Festival, been hailed as a leading spokesman for environmental protection, and developed a reputation for philanthropy. Although he is now retired from acting, the legacy of Robert Redford will impact American film for decades to come.
