The Revolutionary War

July 22, 2021 @ 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Most Americans simply do not know very much about the Revolutionary War.

Although certain images from the Revolutionary War are seared into our memory – Washington Crossing the Delaware and the signing of the Declaration of Independence –  many people would be hard-pressed to name a major battle, a leading general, or even how the War For Independence ended.  Recent events in America have caused some to question whether we should even have statues of George Washington on public display.

THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR

In this four-part series on the Revolutionary War, we will examine why the freest and most prosperous colonials in the world decided to declare independence from a mother country that had protected them. We will look at the roots of the war, the Declaration of Independence, the early battles, including Lexington, Concord, and Bunker Hill, before transitioning into a longer look at the seven years of fighting necessary for America to begin its experiment in participatory democracy. We will also look at the amazing and diverse leaders who guided America. Benjamin Franklin,James Monroe, John Adams, Paul Revere, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton will be some of the people we will meet. I encourage you to learn more about how America came to be!
