The History Of Presidential Impeachment

James Madison and the Founding Fathers were deeply concerned about what would
happen if a president lost his moral bearing and committed crimes while serving as chief executive of the land. Their concern led them to include impeachment in the Constitution as a necessary remedy for Congress to remove a corrupt president. The history of presidential impeachment is fascinating and instructive. In this multimedia presentation, we will look at each of the four presidential impeachments. In this multimedia presentation, we will look at each of the four presidential impeachments that went to trial.
First, we will look at why first we will look at why the 1868 Republican House Of Representatives impeached Democrat Andrew Johnson for willfully and blatantly violating a law, the hotly contested Tenure of Office Act.
Next, we will examine why the 1998 Republican House Of Representatives impeached Democratic President Bill Clinton for lying under oath tour grand jury after a sex scandal.
Finally, we will look at the two impeachment trials of Donald Trump. As the only President to be impeached a second time (no one else came close), we learned about impeachment during his two trials will have significant ramifications for the future.
